We came for the pancakes and were not disappointed. One pancake was as big as a big dinner plate and fluffy and delicious! I also got a fruit bowl which was huge and very nice!. Some of the other menu options - such as the omelets - looked great but that will require another trip to Chico. It is a... More

We had great service And excellent food here. The atmosphere is diner style which was refreshing as we don't have a lot of 50's type diners in North Carolina. The California omelet is well worth trying. They have really great coffee also. When in Chico, check it out!

I had the "early bird" breakfast. Coffee: good. Over-easy egg: okay. Sausage patty: somewhat dry, 'off' odor, and not much seasoning. French toast: doughy in the middle, batter not allowed to penetrate the bread before being undercooked. Despite being peppered by poppy seeds, french toast was bland and flavorless. Had indigestion until I could get some lunch in me. Not... More

Pretty good overall. To an out of towner, the prices seemed very reasonable for the amount and quality of the food. Half order was plenty for me but only $1.30 less, so better to take the rest home if you are local. Ingredients seemed fresh and there were a lot of choices on the menu. There were flies on the... We stopped here for Breakfast/Lunch on our way up north after reading all the great reviews. The portions were quite large, food was good but not great. It was a mixed bag. I ordered breakfast and my hubby ordered lunch. I had Huevos Rancheros 1/2 order. I received a rather large plate piled high layered with a greasy tortilla, vegetarian... More

The thing that stands out for me is the coffee. It was very good. As for the rest , the food is Healthy , Clean , tasty , nutritious , and well prepared. The service is quite good and the atmosphere is nice. It is also a good place to go if you are with a larger group of people... More

This is the quintessential Chico breakfast spot if you're looking for a full breakfast. Casual, laid back vibe, food is consistently good and fresh. Get the French Roast coffee. Portions are huge - plan on leftovers or share a plate. But the best part of Morning Thunder is the people. Staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the clientele is... More

Of course I did not visit every restaurant in Chico to decide this was the best in town, but I did ask two instructors at my meeting about places to eat breakfast in Chico. The both named two, and I went to both. They were both above average, but Morning Thunder wins out by a nose. The food was exquisite.... More

This is a very cute 50's style diner. The food is all homemade and the owner does specialty cooking. Her children help serve and run it. I had wonderful Eggs Benedict and my husband had the unusual, but very good, bacon and cheese taco. This is a very friendly café with delicious food. I'll come back again.

This is a GREAT place for breakfast. We arrived on Sunday morning and thought the wait would be outrageous. But, this place is so well run and so efficient, the wait was nothing. The food was wonderful, the smoothies are truly an experience with lots of fresh flavor. The wait staff is attentive with water, coffee, and condiments. The food... More
