Excellent service, real traditional coffee shop atmosphere and quality food. This is an excellent place for breakfast, with an old style counter and tables inside and outside. All the basic menu items and specials as well. An obvious favorite of Chico locals. Can be crowded on weekend mornings but worth the wait.

This is home cookin' with a flair. I've never been to a diner where the eggs Benedict tastes so good. They make their corned-beef hash in house and the omelets are fabulous. The hask brown are cooked perfectly for my taste. I'm not a big fan of the coffee though. Boring. I've ordered a latte before but the staff doesn't... More

but nothing hugely special about the food to me. I found it very meh...I felt like I might as well cook. When I went with my hubby, the tables weren't clean, they were slow in serving and never checked on us. Food was not very flavorful.

It's fun to read through the extensive (quirky) menu. The portions are large, the food is good, and they know how to cook eggs to perfection. We often meet friends here for weekend breakfasts.

I go to the Roost if I am looking for a good breakfast, a lot like old school home made. Not fancy but good.

Nice big breakfast. The corn beef hash is made there, not from a can. Everything good from the menu.

You don't come across authentic diners much anymore. The Roost has both a U shaped seating area with stools to accommodate maybe 15 diners in one room, while offering sit down dining in an adjacent room. An exhaustive breakfast and lunch menu with moderate prices. You won't leave hungry as portions are generous. Oh, and the coffee is excellent with... More

Great breakfast. A little small but they have inside and outside seating. Great service and cute atmosphere in an old brick building. Order the blueberry pancake.

Just discovered this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Chico. Wow! The breakfast was wonderful. Huge omelets with home-made corned beef hash cooked to perfection. Went back another time to try the Ruben which was out of this world. Very crowded so get to lunch early or late or plan on waiting a long time for a table.

The gravy, benedicts, and coffee are king here. Worth the wait on busy weekend mornings.
