Ate here on 2 consecutive evenings. The floor/furnishings have a rather hard/basic appearance and lights are poor unless you have one over your table. However food is great with excellent choice and very good quakity. Service was slow on one occasion and I had to ask twice for a beer. More

The choice of restaurants in Chester is pretty limited...! The Red Onion is a diner with pretty basic decor and surroundings, but the menu is extensive and the food quality is very good. The staff are friendly and helpful. If I'm ever in Chester again (!!) I will definitely use the Red Onion again. More

The family went to The Red Onion expecting small town everything. Much to our surpise everything was GREAT. We had an older waitress with great charm and she was very helpful with our special needs sister. The chefs made all changes my sister needed and we had a great dinner More

Hidden gem in Chester California. Food was outstanding. Much better than we expected to find in a small mountain town. More

We dined at the Red Onion Grill based upon earlier positive reviews. The restaurant is located next to the Chester Bowling Alley. The dining room was open and seemed clean, though not especially cozy. The rib eye steak was very well cooked and delicious, however the chicken parmigiana was only fair with bland marinara and a rather tasteless chicken breast.... More

This was probably the best choice for Chester, a small town with cafes but not much else. We ordered pasta and lamb. The Pasta - alfredo with shrimp and crab was a generous and delicious option. I had a lamb shank, which was excellent! The meat melted off the bone, and was served with a very tasty sauce. More

We can only recommend this Restaurant. We ate there while staying at the Best Western in Chester. In fact the personnel of the motel recommended us this place. We were not disappointed. The service is very friendly and the food was very fresh. We can recommend the salads as well as the grilled meat. More

Had a dinner at Red Onion Grill on Saturday night. We ordered calamari for appetizer, steak with gorgonzola and chicken involtini for dinner and tiramisu for dessert. Dinner was perfectly seasoned and tiramisu outstanding! I was nicely surprised the food was on table very quickly considering the place was packed (now I now why it was packed). Atmosphere was perfect!... More

Very welcoming and lovely waitress there. Food (salmon, pasta, chicken) was excellent and the wine list was reasonable. Unfortunately, tiramisu for dessert wasn't possible as it's home-made and the owner was in hospital delivering a child (congratulations :)) but the other choices were just as good. More
