Back in LA from monterey penisula WE were hungry. Driving on 1 WE decided to have a break in Cayocos , the nearest place. It has been a surprise . I have a limited review of Duckie's as I only had the Manhattan Clam Chowder and found it wonderful! Very flavorful and lacking the gloppy roux that dominates so many of the New England chowders available on the West Coast. It was a lovely chowder with a briny edge to the meaty goodness. I wish I could find such delightful... More

In one stopover in my PCH1 road trip I went to the small city of Cayucos and noticed one eating place full of people: Duckie's Chowder House. The place is simple with nice service (you purchase food, seat then a waiter brings your order) and food is great. We had most probably the best fish and chips I ever ate,... More

This is my favorite place to eat in Cayucos. Family friendly and excellent choices. Open air feel. Right by the pier.

Good quick sit down faire. We got Fish & Chips, Shrimp & Chips, and chicken tenders. All were good but together, too much fired food... The clam chowder was excellent! big chunks of clam!

Excellent location with great views of the beach. Order at the counter and seat yourself, fast service on the food. Husband had the shrimp tacos, I had the fish bowl. Both were very fresh and tasty, perfect "coast" food. We both especially liked the tacos. Great place to eat with a toddler and feel like you are at the beach!!

We walked the street to get lunch, a lot of places took cash only, no debit cards. Some were closed outright or poor service. Duckies was GREAT-fast and very efficient operation-and they took debit cards, it got buried quickly. Obvious to us this was THE PLACE to eat, close to the pier!

Cruising down Highway 1 there is a hidden gem! Duckie's is right next to the water with a great view of the Pacific Ocean. The atmosphere is uplifting and friendly. The clam chowder is amazing and unique. However the best part about Duckie's is the staff, they all are smiling :)

We went for dinner the first night of our trip. Tired, cold, and hungary. Hubby got a bowl of clam chowder, I got a cup. It was sooooo good. I didn't finish my chicken & salad because the soup was so good. It was very busy, but the staff handled it well and seemed well trained.

It is easy to get some good fish & chips in your bathing suit and be all sandy in this place. The service is fast, friendly and casual here. The prices are right and it is a wonderful place to go for a quick snack.
