Description: Located in picturesque Cayucos, California, Schooners has been offering guests an unforgettable dining experience since it opened in 1993. Embracing a nautical theme reminiscent of the early history of the Central Coast sailors and fishermen, Schooners boasts the best ocean views of any restaurant in the area. Gaze into the deep blue while enjoying one of our signature cocktails, or perhaps some of our famous calamari strips. Schooners menu features fresh seafood and steaks, prepared thoughtfully by Chef Beto Gonzalez. Take time to stop in, take a look and say hello; chances are you'll find yourself wanting to indulge in our house specialty Bloody Mary, our fresh seafood, and some lively conversation with our local patrons. Hope to see you soon!

Food was fine. Typical 'roadhouse menu'. View of the ocean from the top floor (front of building area) is great but there are relatively few tables in this area. Most are in the back area or downstairs with no ocean views. Hostess was incompetent. Seemed confused and not very tactful in how she dealt with customers. One couple waited half... More

Go for a drink. Food is middle of the road. Typical beach fare. Fish and chips, salads, fish entrees, hamburgers etc. The bar overlooks the beach and the pier in Cayucos and it is lovely sight. Usually some characters there to entertain if you need to be entertained.

This is the kind of place that the locals go. We were there for lunch on New Years eve. It was very busy (a good sign) and full of locals (another good sign). I had the halibut with the Thai slaw...it was delish! Hubby had the fish and chips -- he said it was the best French fries he had... More

You need to try the coleslaw, I could eat a bucket of it. The food was great and service even better. This place is charming and deserves a visit if your in town.

Loved the selection of food and the friendliness of the staff. Though it was a cool November evening, we chose to sit on one of their outside balconies and were pleased we did. There were outside heaters and it was great to listen to the ocean as we dove into our delectable choices of fish and seafood!

Great atmosphere upstairs in the bar. Scenic place to watch the surf, waves and the surfers ride their boards in. True it is old and not a modern place; however the crowd and atmosphere makes it a must while on the coast.

Situated right on the front, good range of food and beers. On a wet but warmish November afternoon we had reviving beverage (or two) looking through the menu we decided on a Ahi (like tuna) salad plus a steak salad. Both were very well presented and the flavours were excellent. Definitely be back on our next trip.

We come to this town quite a bit but be cautious when eating here. The service is okay but the food and cleanliness is not okay. Over the years the food just keeps getting worse. I think they stay open just due to the steady flow of new tourism. P.s Bring hand sanitizer.

Hi Jeremy, Thanks for your review. I'm sorry that you did not enjoy our food. It is true that we serve new guests every day, but we also serve long time locals, and are ourselves proud to eat and spend time at Schooners with friends old and new. We have an exceptional record with the Health Department, and strive daily... More
