Excellent Mexican Cuisine

The atmosphere is dated, a little hard to find, you must look carefully because it's somewhat obscure. Now for the good stuff, the food is wonderful. I had the best chicken tostado ever, off the charts tasty, all ingredients were fresh. Chicken seasoned to perfection and plentiful. My wife had a... read more

Best chili relleno- the chili wasn't soggy or stringy, and I could taste the flavor of the pepper! We loved the family run place. Our waitress explained not only the special, but what made their place "special," since we were from out of town. Although the decor was dated, as one visitor stated, this only added to the atmosphere, and... More

Always a hit - cash only, dumpy little old house in dumpy Cat City, but always a huge wait - worth it! Fresh, thick chips, homemade salsa, great tacos...nothing fancy - no fish tacos - but solid mexican food! Beer and wine...

This afternoon, my wife and I had lunch at El Gallito. When we arrived at the restaurant around 1:00pm, the restaurant was completely full. Our wait time was about 5 minutes. Perfect timing on our part. My wife had wanted to try the restaurant for over a year. We were not disappointed. My wife ordered the Albondigas Soup and she... More

Colorful looking exterior/interior may at first cause hesitation but food is great! Interior items are well used, like the hazy menu and well worn table coverings, but it is an old, established, family run eatery that is clean. The tortilla chips and salsa are unlimited (only after you order, read the menu). The Carnitas are great, as are all the... More

A small family run restaurant serving very good Mexican food at a very reasonable prices. Food is authentic, wide variety of choices and is served temperature hot. Friendly service. Only beer and wine. Can be busy so a wait may be necessary at some times of day. Cash only.

We were invited for dinner and told it was real authentic Mexican food. Again another restaurant we had never been to, But we will go back. We had to wait 20 minutes but it was worth it. The staff, so friendly and attentive. We never ran out of Salsa and Nachos. The food, was great. Hot and fast. I had... More

When you're in the Palm Springs area, don't miss El Gallito's authentic Mexican entrees. Served hot and as spicy as you like, every taste bud will be engaged completely. Portions are plentiful. El Gallitos is not fancy, it's there to please the palate at reasonable prides, not inflated ones to support high-end architectural elements and elegant decor. No! Go to... More
