El Gallito was simple and authentic and attracts quite a crowd each night. For starters we had tortilla chips that were very flavourful. I tried the beef enchiladas (with hot sauce and with sour creme). They were tasty and came with retried beans and rice. My friends had tacos and some French fries. El Gallito serves many types of Mexican... More

We love this restaurant. It is popular so you will have a bit of a wait. The owners are very pleasant, and the food is fresh and piping hot. Fresh warm chips and salsa! We make a stop every year and it is still great. Just bring cash. They do have a cash machine-no credit cards! It is family-run, and... More

Admittedly I have only been there once. The food was good but my waitress was a gum chewing girl that didn't add much to the ambiance. The place has been there for years and has a pretty good following. My problem is that I compare every place to San Miguel and no one comes close.

We were looking for a family owned type of restaurant on our way back to PSP from Rancho Mirage along 111. All we could find were big chains (Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang, etc.) and pretentious looking tourist places. Then we saw this place on the side of the road, and we knew we'd found our spot. The service and the... More

Really enjoyed the chicken enchiladas in this low key place. Seems like a local favorite. Great service. Will be back every time we come west.

If you are a local, then you already know. If you are a visitor and are looking for GOOD, authentic, clean-your-plate Mexican food, then you have to hit El Gallito on Hwy 111. The place has been there for eeeevvvvveeeerrrr, and the Cantu family is always happy to see that you are well taken care of. Chips & salsa are... More

Great food and atmosphere. Read all the rules on the menu for a laugh. I had the Colorado chili: falling apart beef chunks in a complex sauce.
