This is a small family owned and run local restaurant serving up simply good Mexican food...no frills. The decor is all about El Gallito and the rooster rules. Service is friendly, fast and the decor funky and comfortable. Almost always a bit of a wait on the patio, but I figure this is the sign of good food, good service... More

Small mom and pop restaurant. Place quite dated but has Mexican atmosphere. I wanted tortilla soup but they don't serve that. Chile relleno was excellent. Parking in the back free.

Don't be put off by the outside. This place wins every award for food. Chili Verde is habit forming. The service and prices are great. The food is hot. If you like original Mexican food, this is your place. All the local go here.

Small restaurant. Mom and Pop operation Seats about 50. Get there early as it fills up fast. Good menu. EVERYTHING is homemade and fresh. Chips are warm and the salsa is excellent. Every dish that came out of the kitchen looked good. Service was great! Worth the wait if they are busy.

We've been coming back to El Gallito over the last few years for good reason - great Mexican food! Be sure to try the carnitas whenever you find it offered as a special.

I doubt we will ever go back here . Couldn't even get a Margharita ... they don't make them , only beer and wine . So unwelcoming from the time you arrive til the time you leave after they have rushed you out ... Not a nice environment at all . I don't care how good they pretend the food... More

This was a great find right on Hwy. 111. It is an old house converted into a restaurant. Lots of people waiting so we knew the food had to be good. We love to find "hole in the wall" places to eat when traveling. Great food, chips, and the salsa was hot. Friendly service. Would definitely go again.

Loved their food, but would like people to know they only accept cash. No credit cards were accepted.

We visit the Palm Springs area on a regular basis, and never miss a chance to eat at El Gallito. Charming historical environment, personable proprietors and staff, fabulous food. Looking forward to our next visit.

The restaurant is located in a very plain & older building but has good atmosphere. This was our second visit here and as before we found the food to be very good as was the service. Everything was very fresh and we will be back again on our next trip to Palm Springs.
