Our Soup Spot

This is where we go when we want chicken soup and we're too tired, or sick. to make it. My wife gets the Chicken Tortilla and I get the Chicken Vegetable. The Seafood Molcajetes look really good to, but I've never tried them.

Want to know where a great Mexican restaurant is located? It is here and most of the hispanic community would agree as most of the diners are hispanic. With prices for sub par Mexican food being relatively high at most other restauarants, this is the exception. It is reasonably priced for what you get, especially for lunch. Best of all,... More

This is a decent Mexican restaurant and they are relentless on the complementary tortilla chips. I especially like their Chicken Soup, a brothy but loaded soup that is great for one of those cold Bay Area days.

Los Molcajetes is one of my local favorites for Mexican food. The chips and salsa are fresh as are the ingredients in their food. This is not your upscale restaurant but more of the "Mom and Pop" Mexican restaurants which is why I like it so much. The service is consistently good and the kitchen is well run. The guacamole... Returned recently --to mostly good meal, well-made. Was told that the "caldos" (soups) were especially good on this cold January evening, I went for the caldo de pollo (chicken soup). Ordered a small for $6.25, served with rice, condiments (serrano peppers, lime slices, onions). Was pretty good, though it needed more cilantro and well, rich chicken flavor that La Pinata/La... Decent food and okay portion sizes. My one complaint is about the rice. They put frozen mixed vegetables in the rice and I don't like it. Salsa is good, though usually not spicy.

My friend and I ate at Los Molcajetes for the first time this evening. Upon walking in the door we saw the the wide variety of Mexian beers and sodas in their display cases. We were promply invited to sit where we wanted, and a waiter quickly dropped by to give us menus and get us started with something to... More
