Must GO! Love their steaks and fish

One our home town favorites is the Hitching Post! Their steaks are superb and the fish special was just delicious. We paired it with a local beer: Hoppy Poppy IPA! The service is great and very attentive and personal. I would definitely recommend a reservation!

Sometimes you just want a nice steak, so my hostess drove me a long way from Santa Maria to this popular restaurant. I was expecting a 'Western' atmosphere, but it was just an old wooden building. It featured beef, so I ordered a top sirloin steak. It was supposed to be medium rare, but it was cooked too long. It... More

I had a chance to visit Hitching Post as part of a large group. We had seats all ready for us and multiple staff to help. The orders were taken quickly and the food arrived much faster than I expected. Everything was very tasty and we were all happy with our orders (and the final bill).

We walked in last night after a hectic holiday season and busy work week to reconnect and the place was packed ! We grabbed a seat at the bar ( they pour a generouss T & T ) and were seated quickly. Every bite made me happy. The shrimp cocktail, the salad with their house made bleu cheese dressing, my... More

This trip to the Hitching Post revolved around my mom's 80th birthday. 14 people in the party-12 adults and two 12 year olds. Service was impeccable. Meat cooked to perfection from rare to well done. Salad lettuce was crisp with flavorful dressing. Relish tray was filled with fresh vegetables. I had the pork chop which was probably the best I've... More

Asparagus, mushrooms, peppers grilled over oak and with a perfect seasoning made this visit memorable. Sirloin steak was seasoned well and grilled according to my medium rare preference. Shrimp cocktail was mushy and definitely not a positive addition to the meal. Garlic toast was amazing.

It was a business/family supper. Yikes. Our 6:30pm reservation didn't get seated until 7:00pm with 4 under 7 years old, you can imagine the parenting struggle. However, they gave us free appetizers, which helped the kids and adults! The kids menu was perfect for my 3! My ribeye was fabulous! I had a bite of my son's chicken and it... More

We had 80 people after our Air Force Car Show and everything was perfect. They had our tables ready on time, they had extra chairs on the patio for our group, service was wonderful and everyone's meal was correct. Our group loved the food and service. Come here super hungry!

Made a special effort to drive to this remote location to experience Santa Maria barbeque at this restaurant based on the reviews. The waitress was friendly and accommodating but the wait time (45 min) was excessive, especially on a Monday evening with reservations (we were seated right away, but it took this amount of time to get our food). The... More

if your in the area or passing by on the 101, The Hitching Post 1 restaurant is a terrific stop for dinner and relaxation. Best BBQ and great wine list. Qual, ribs, steak - is to die for.
