The best restaurant in Carpinteria

good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Chef James Sly has brought to Carpinteria a great mix of French and American cuisine and can regularly be seen chatting with his customers. The service is professional if sometimes a little slow. There's a varied and interesting wine list but we like the fact that... read more

My daughter, her fiancé, husband, and I had dinner reservations yesterday evening (8/15/15). My daughter and I ordered a three course dinner and my husband and fiancé each a burger. The burgers came, but other than the soup that came with the dinner my daughter and I did not receive our entree. Over a 20 minute period we had to... More

Truly unique one of a king eating experience. Enjoyed it immensely. Having dinner in Carp? Must consider Slys. Top notch.

Obviously regarded as the "nicest" restaurant in town, even if I wasn't from LA and fairly spoiled I would hold the opinion of my review title. Overpriced, under seasoned and confusing a la carte options. There were bugs/fruit flies around our table all night. Things have to be worse than this for me to rate poor, i can only assume... More

We went to Sly's to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were seated in the middle room which is a good shape and has a good buzz. Our server was the ever popular Izzy, attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. Our meal was excellent. The clam chowder could have done with more clams and maybe less potato, the warm spinach salad was light... More

The rating system does not allow a "good" rating which I would give Sly's. It is better than "average" and one should not be too critical of beach restaurants in small towns like Carpinteria. All in all a pleasant experience on a pleasant day. The menu is varied a priced about where I expected. The service was very pleasant and... More

Fresh and delicious, quality meals. We love to sit in the front or at the bar for a more casual dining experience. Try a Moscow Mule and and a "Half & Half" (half fried onion strings, half fried potatoes chips. Owners and staff are always friendly.

Food and wine selection was wide and varied - all the good things you can hope for at a typical steak house but in Beach Town Carp a welcome standard with nice surprises like clams in Chardonnay sauce. The Wine list was wide and varied - we orders a bottle of Stags Leap Chardonnay and we're pleased with the meal... More

This restaurant is situated on the main street, Linden, leading to the beach. There are some seats in from open to the sidewalk which is where we sat because we had our dog. Delicious cocktails 11-14 bucks. We ordered the filet mignon because steak seemed to be the thing. We also split an order of string beans fresh from the... More

I like Sly's because its broad menu satisfies meat, seafood and salad lovers. I love the abalone and usually order it, with one of the luscious salads plus a couple of side dishes. If you don't like the sides as described, don't hesitate to ask them to add or change something. They are incredibly flexible and not stuck-up like many... More
