Good food, small portions

Have to say that I'm writing a review after only one visit to Sly's, and that one solely on the basis that they offered abalone on the menu. I come from a day when you could order an abalone steak at many California seafood restaurants, and come away entirely satisfied with the wonderful taste and... read more

This restaurant is situated on the main street, Linden, leading to the beach. There are some seats in from open to the sidewalk which is where we sat because we had our dog. Delicious cocktails 11-14 bucks. We ordered the filet mignon because steak seemed to be the thing. We also split an order of string beans fresh from the... More

I like Sly's because its broad menu satisfies meat, seafood and salad lovers. I love the abalone and usually order it, with one of the luscious salads plus a couple of side dishes. If you don't like the sides as described, don't hesitate to ask them to add or change something. They are incredibly flexible and not stuck-up like many... More

The food was incredible! Every item we ordered was top notch all the way around. The waiter was friendly, funny, and helpful with food and drink selections. He made us feel at home, and the food was out of this world! It was worth every penny.

James Sly's is a great chef and when he started his own restaurant in Carpinteria it became a big success because he uses fresh ingredients and local beef and produce. Great staff services with a smile and nice wine list .When you visit the Santa Barbara area make a reservation for dinner or a weekend brunch but call ahead and... More

Thoroughly enjoyed my dinner: great food and service. Loved their seafood choices, especially abalone while my husband enjoyed his filet Mignon. A nice people watching spot if you are on the side next to Linden Ave.

We had brunch with friends here after a beach wedding the day before. Great decor--old fashioned bar and cocktails to match. We were sorry to not have been able to do dinner and cocktails, but the brunch was pretty great. The boys had seafood omelets and the girls had Eggs Benedict. One caveat: they hard poach the eggs for this... More

Returned to Sly's for a birthday celebration and, as usual, the food was excellent. I had a chicken with figs dish that was super. The brussel sprouts were a little on the hard side and were, therefore, disappointing. But didn't detract from an otherwise wonderful evening.

Sly's has become a Carpinteria landmark since it opened it's doors five years ago - and with good reason! Their extensive menu has something for everyone - their signature steaks are cooked to perfection, and their seafood selections are fresh & delightfully prepared. They have the only 'full bar' in town - (with an award-winning team of 'mixologists' and a... More

In the afternoon, my wife and I want to stop, and relax a bit. We went to Sly's and order 2 glasses of Hitching Post Pinot, onion soup, and the crab and shrimp louis salad. Sitting near the large open window area, we relaxed and watched all the happenings on Linden Avenue. It was a good experience.
