Description: Since 1988 Gar Woods Grill & Pier has been the premier North Lake Tahoe waterfront dining destination. Located in Carnelian Bay, our floor to ceiling windows, large deck and balconies provide breath-taking views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierras. Gar Woods Grill & Pier is an upscale casual restaurant that accommodates groups of 160 just as easily as groups of 2. Our Chef has created a menu highlighting California cuisine, hand cut steaks and fresh Pacific seafood, served in our fun in the sun atmosphere. The wine list is a collection of California's best-known vintners featuring more than a dozen wines by the glass. Enjoy Tahoe's warm summer days sitting on our waterfront deck while sipping on a world famous Wet Woody. With nearly two million sold you'll be in good company but come early to get a seat. When visiting during the ski season thaw out in front of our three story tall river rock fireplace with a Warm Woody or a Heavenly bottom. Lake Tahoe sunsets are our specialty.

Went there for dinner, had a great server very friendly and attentive. We were lucky to be there on a Wednesday so the "Woody" drinks were half price. The food was great if a little expensive and once they put up the umbrellas and turned on the heaters it was comfortably warm.

Great outdoor deck seating with magnificent views of Lake Tahoe, excellent food, wonderful drinks (don't miss the Wet Woody). This is a not-to-be-missed lunch or dinner spot.

The location is breath taking!!! Perfect for your first night on the lake. Service was decent and the quality of food was good too. They can work a little on their food presentation though. My husband and I are expecting our first child and it's almost the end of the stretch for us. We didn't have a prior reservation and... More

The location at the edge of Lake Tahoe is superb with stunning views. Our party of five enjoyed the terrace which is heated by infra red heaters in the cool evening. Service and food were fabulous. Their sigfnature drink, wet woody was really good. Highly recommend.

How cool to pull up to a buoy, have someone pick you up in a Zodiak and drop you off at their pier for lunch! Busy place on a Sat. afternoon, had to wait for an outside table, but worth the wait. Fish & Chips were great and friends had burgers that were some of the best in Tahoe and... More

Given the lake front view, t shirt sales and crowds, one would expect touristy level food as well, but we were all most pleasantly surprised. A group of us went for dinner and ordered everything from fish to pasta to burgers - and all were absolutely delicious. And that's not just because it was a spectacularly beautiful evening on the... Had gone to Gar Woods earlier this year for a retirement party. They did a fantastic job with a dinner for 120+. Met with friends for SoCal for dinner and I suggested Gar Woods, based on the great job they did previously. You can REQUEST (not reserve) an outdoor table on the patio, When we arrived, I asked for a... More

This might just be the standard in Tahoe, but I expect more for a $39 entree - at least a salad included! The halibut was good, but not worth the price. We sent the dry, overlooked chicken back to the kitchen. Nice setting, but there are better places for the money.

I have been here before for a Wet Woody and this trip was no different. However, I found a new favorite with the "Krake'n on my Woody" on this past visit. It looks similar to the Wet Woody, the taste was very different. I do not plan on going back to the Wet Woody, it was that good. I ordered... More

this is a great place to go close to sunset and sit near the water. it has an upscale setting and atmosphere with a pretty good wine selection. i think it is best to have a reservation so you can request a table near the water. the inside tables are set above a little so they are pleasant too though....
