While in town for a family wedding and staying at the Blue Sky Lodge we happened upon this empty place with low expectations but with enough room for our party of 7! What a terrific surprise that place has a fantastic breakfast!! In fact returned with a party of 10, 2 days later! Everyone was pleased with their breakfasts ranging... More

I was really craving chips & salsa and some serious Mexican food. Plaza Linda had been recommended to me by a co-worker, but boy was I disappointed. I arrived during what should have been the peak dinner rush on a Saturday night. There were only 3 other tables occupied besides my own. Uh oh. My friend and I ordered drinks... More

We stayed a few days in Carmel Valley while visiting California and just happened to try this place. It is great! The food is wonderful, seems Mexican to me but there are other influences from Central America I think. The staff are charming, prices are very reasonable and you can sit at the bar or inside or out on the deck.A... I am so glad this placed moved from its former location. They took over a building which was previously the Volcano Grill and kept most of the decor and furnishings. The atmosphere is very nice - modern but earthy, and the patio is a delight on good weather days (you can pretty much count on that in Carmel Valley). Food... More

This is quality Latin food with a Salvadorean twist. There is a fair number of vegetarian choices, which was a nice surprise. The Chef comes around to see that you are happy and we certainly were. Lots of quality fresh ingrediants nicely prepared and presented. The location is a definite step up over the previous sort of bleak location on... More

Very nice place to eat Mexican/Salvadorian food! White table clothes, everyone is friendly! Food well priced and great chips/salsa. They even had tequila tastings - great!! It hit the spot after hiking in Garland Ranch.

have been w/o a good Mexican food fix for 10 days as I was traveling in Europe and not much in the way of Mexican style food there... went to Plaza Linda out in Carmel Valley Village...about 12 miles off of Highway One... as others have mentioned this is a fairly new location for them...and quite nice, though not having... Plaza Linda is not a typical Mexican restaurant, as the menu also has some El Salvadorian (less-spicy) influence. Some of the less-spicy appetizers are perfect after an afternoon of wine tasting at the neighboring tasting rooms. The bar also carries beers from nearby Carmel Valley Brewery (on tap) which only produces their fine beers in very limited batches. The "sea... More

First, they are no longer at 9 Del Fino Place - they are a couple of blocks away on Carmel Valley Road. The picture of the restaurant is correct, though. The PL has been in the Valley since the early 50s, I believe. It was run by several generations of the Diaz family until it was sold a few years... More
