Cute, quirky and very northern California decor. Good food and local wine selection. Do not skip dessert

We returned to Carmel after a one year visit to the east coast. On our first night back we went to Corkscrew Cafe, a long time favorite of ours. The food was good as always but we were struck by the extremely small portions. My wife had the Grilled Asparagus salad that was listed as a salad but was so... More

The Corkscrew Cafe has an absolutely gorgeous outdoor patio that is perfect for an al fresco lunch while visiting the Carmel Valley for a day of wine tasting at the countless nearby tasting rooms. Of special note, you must order one of the delightful wood-fired oven pizzas. The meyer lemon pizza was especially intriguing and delicious.

We sat outside in a little side patio. You can sit inside too, if it gets to warm. Our waitress was very friendly and explained the menu perfectly and did a good job recommending different items. I had the mussels and clams which were great, but my husband's trout was way over cooked. I guess cooking it in a pizza... More

I was staying in Pacific Grove and needed an escape from the fog so my friend from Monterey brought me to the Corkscrew Café. The drive was lovely and the sun was shining in Carmel Valley. We sat in a semi-enclosed courtyard with real grape arbors overhead. The courtyard is next to a wine-tasting restaurant/bar. I ordered a BLT with... More

Wonderful surprise! Amazing food, wine and service!. Our waiter literally took the time to walk us through the menu, highlighting key items, unique entrees, etc... Also, he spoiled us rotten on the wine. We ordered a glass each and before we knew it...we had a mini tasting going on. He asked if we were OK with it and...we were. We... More

Pretty Bistro, food was pretty good once we got it. My issue was the VERY poor service. We were initially outside and abandoned. Water was served and then asked to be moved inside after 15 mins in the hope things might improve. No dialogue with waiting staff who appeared to think they were above their customers ! No further drinks... More

We stopped in here for a late lunch after wine tasting in Carmel Village and we were seating out in their back patio right away. We split a salad and a pizza and they were incredibly flavorful. The staff were super friendly and we would love to come back here again next time we're in the area.

Lovely food, very fresh, and the garden setting was very serene and lit with fun lighting. Also great wine recommendations -- it's adjacent to the Georis Vineyard tasting room
