Met with couple of friends for brunch in this hidden lodge in Carmel Valley. Really nice atmosphere in the bar and outside by the fire place. A great spot after a hike or for a mellow salad and wine night. I love their heirloom toamto salad. Huge fat slices of local toms with garlic and basil. Bocce ball court! more

We stopped here to check out the hotel after we read about their dinner spot, Marinus. It was such a beautiful day that we had to have lunch on the patio. We had wine, mussels and a crab cake. We stopped at Wickets for a quick appetizer before touring the Carmel Valley wineries and ended up staying for quite awhile. First of all the Bernardus Lodge is first-class and a gorgeous property.
