What I particularly loved about the General Store is that it is all locals by virtue of the fact that if you don't know it is there you won't find it. We had a outdoor breakfast with wonderful food and service.

My husband and I kept hearing rave reviews about this place, so we decided to make the 55 minute drive and try it out. It was fabulous! The staff was very welcoming and friendly. I ordered the skirt steak with porcini mushrooms in a cream sauce. It was absolutely perfect! My husband ordered the sole cooked with apples. He said... More

I am not trying to plagurize the title given to the Cachagua General Store in Carmel Valley by another reviewer, but rather to completely concur with his choice of words in trying to describe this most unusual and absolutely unique enterprise. As the tale goes, the locally well-known catering business, "A Moveable Feast" established its business site in Cachaqua with... More

Unconventional! Absolutely, but in a good way. We just had dinner at the Store and experienced a wonderful time with friends. From the moment you find the store (after a lengthy drive), you're in for a good time. The bathroom is outside the entrance, the décor is Carolina chic and there are any number of canines that seem to walk... More

Sorry to say, rude wait staff, waited almost an hour to get the first dish of 6 people eating. I literally had to take my dish "to go" because the kids were falling asleep. Also, the table was disgusting from the setting before, which is undeniably wrong and uncleanly. I WILL NEVER RETURN!!! There are so many better restaurants in... More

Where do I begin, from dinner back in December to Brunch in June, beef short ribs vs eggs benedict.? In a few words, brunch was stellar! Dinner, just needed more seasoning. Love the ambience and the local talent that entertained us. Worth the crazy drive to get here.

Cachagua General Store is open only on Sundays (Brunch and Dinner) and Mondays (Dinner). Went there for a Monday night dinner. Word of warning, if you're squeamish about winding road and switchback turns, don't attempt the drive. Of all the roads in France, Italy I've driven, this is one of the windiest roads with the sharpest turns. Personally I loved... More

Not sure how or why Michael Jones keeps producing his Monday night dinners, but the results are noteworthy. Our party of three had a pear salad, crab cake, and sole ceviche for appetizers...each was first rate. Our main courses were a double pork chop (Fred Flintstone size), Barney Rubble lamb shank, and filet of sole. I would put Mike's cooking... More
