"This is truly a French bistro!"

Tucked away in the heart of a residential neighborhood in Carmel, you will find L'Escargot. Quaint and friendly describes the atmosphere. The only issue was the weather was unseasonably warm and that made for a very warm dining experience -- no breeze and, of course, no AC. That aside, our waiter... read more

L'escargot is by far one of the most underrated restaurants in Carmel. The menu is bistro french with some Carmel specialties such as Sand Dabs. Three snail appetizers - classic, mushroom caps, pastry shell. All are perfect. Caprese of organic tomatoes was amazing. Best ever. Roasted Duck and Veal (scalopini) were sensational. Other entrees included Dover Sole, Beef Wellington, Sand... More

Every year during the Monterey car weekend I eat here. I must say it is my favorite place, excellent food quality and preparation, service friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Wine selection is great as well. I need to point out the mussels as appetizer, the seafood entrees, and the zabaione dessert, among other great things. I love eating out... More

Mom and I had dinner here our first night in the area. We were so taken with the charming exterior.... And the food and service lived up to our initial impression. We shared a caprese salad (heirloom tomatoes were so sweet!) and each had an order of the delicious scallop special. The waiter was very knowledgeable and clearly loves his... More

I was looking for an elegant restaurant to celebrate by husband's 70th birthday. Well this was the place. Great service. And of course we had escargot. We also both had duck.

We were a party of two couples, luckily calling ahead for reservations as it turns out that the restaurant is extremely busy Wednesday nights due to their weekly special of 1/2 price on bottles of wine. The service was outstanding. My husband had the prix fixe meal (which I think I will opt for next visit) starting with excellent home-made... More

I live in this beautiful area that is full of fantastic restaurants. For my husband's birthday I thought we should try a new place. So I chose L'escargot and we were both delighted. We have added it to our list of "goto" restaurants here at home. The service was excellent as was the menu. We had trouble deciding what to... More

We happened upon L'escargot by chance, but had a really wonderful meal, and a lovely evening. The menu was varied - with something for everyone, from light salads and fish, to more substantial pasta and beef wellington. The food was excellent quality, really tasty with flavours put together beautifully. The service was friendly and well informed, and attentive without ever... More

We love Carmel. We go there to visit with our cousin and her husband who are fantastic hosts. They take us to the best restaurants and the most scenic sights. We love it. We have been to L'escargot twice now and have loved it both times. Our cousin frequents the restaurant often enough that we receive fantastic attention. The menu... More

We enjoyed a wonderful experience of great food and great service. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. The quality of the food was excellent and it was presented in a very unintimidating fashion.
