The food is good, not grand, served in a cozy atmosphere with a sweet staff. The noise level is palatable and the menu is broad enough for everyone to find something to their taste.

Nice dinner at L'escargot but I would not go back. The price fixe menu as advertised looked great, many choices for 3 courses for $36.00. However, when it came down to it, the choices were not as represented. I went with it anyway but disappointed in that what I had planned on ordering wasn't on the price fixe. That would... More

Recently reviewed ( local paper) as an OLD SCHOOL French neighborhood gem we were enticed to visit. We went there on a weekday evening and yes service was actually very good, ambiance fine. What disappointed us was the lack of attention to the food. The House Pate , described as Country Style was more like the PASTE that one spreads... More

Our visit began with an excellent waiter named Haven. His excellent guidance thru the menu made for a feast enjoyed by our four diners. My mussels were excellent, the broth almost disappeared under my brother-in-law's fork! Conversation was not as lively as usual,no one wanted to be distracted from their meal. All in all a fabulous experience, good food, good service. A place to return... More

I am not generally an escargot fan, but I tried my wife's and it was delicious. Our server was enthusiastic from the get go. he recommended the escargot and the duck. We loved them both. He offered to have the chef pair wines for our dinner. When we were done, my wife mentioned that she liked Moscato D'Asti, which was... More

Celebrated my parents 55th anniversary tonight. Our waiter Dino took amazing care of us. We felt like we were back in Paris. Duck was Devine.

This small restaurant is truly a gem. Food was flavorful and beautifully presented. Service was outstanding and friendly ("Haven" was our waiter). Good wine list, plus savory cocktails. I had the escargot appetizer which was quite good. The sand dabs were among the best I've ever had. All four of us raved about the food. The prix fixe (fixed price)... More

My husband ate frogs legs in Paris last month but the ones served at L'escargot were far superior he said! I had delicious fish. We dined with 4 other people and everyone enjoyed their meal except the chap who had the 3 course special. (His main of roast lamb was a bit overcooked and on the small side) Our meals... More

After many years of coming to Carmel we finally chose L'escargot for dinner tonight. What a delight. We tried a couple of the escargo appetizers to start and found them very good. Our son had the pate and gave it five stars. All of our meals, rabbit, sand dabs and sea bass were delicious and the sauces were well prepared.... More
