We live in the area and this restaurant is one of our 'go to's' when entertaining house guests....always consistently delicious with good service (even when it gets busy). I love the crab cakes and slightly spicy sauce. The roasted chicken (and red potatoes) is always a winner. Very nice wine selections too. Plenty of nearby and free parking....something that is... Rio grill is reliable, decent food, friendly service. We love the artichoke, best in Monterey, CA! However, sometimes the artichoke is under cooked or burnt but if it comes out like it should- it is fantastic. The Specials are interesting and worth considering. Their salmon dinner selection is a favorite of ours and they serve a delicious hamburger. Rio Grill... More

You need to be bold depending with reservations you can avoid jockying for position. Depending on your dining time if you are there during Happy Hour be prepared to start at the bar then grab a table as diners leave. The menu is great lots of seasonal favorites and appetizers too. Try sharing a few with you friends.

My husband and I went here for our 25th wedding anniversary and we had the best dinner and a surprise anniversary dessert that our waiter Surprised us with. Looking forward to going back when we are in Carmel. Make sure to stop by the lounge and enjoyi the fireplace and the walls have some great character paintings to look at.

This is a fun and whimsical place to enjoy good wine and happy hour specials. Eating in the bar is our favorite spot with lots of fun and interesting people to talk with. Our favorites are the skirt steak with yummy sweet potatoes and green beans, my husband always goes for the great burger. Wedge salad is great and don't... More

After a disastrous dinner elsewhere, we decided to salvage our meal by having dessert here. Great choice! My other half had their apple bread pudding, which is always delicious. I decided to try something new, so got their grilled banana sundae, with strawberries, chocolate, and candied pecans. Only one word needed to describe it: YUMMY!

We stopped here for lunch and so glad we did. Not wanting to eat a huge lunch, we decided to spilt something. We got the grill shrimp and brie spinach wrap with potato skins. Everything was yummy and the potato skins were the best I've ever had. Cute atmosphere and plenty of regulars at the bar.

Winters can get very dark and cold down in Carmel. Head over to the Rio Grill's Happy Hour between 4-6 and enjoy a cozy seat by the fire while enjoying some tasty appetizers and drinks, all at reduced prices. We enjoyed all of the vegetarian and fish offerings including deep fried artichokes, fried calamari, sauteed peppers, and quesadillas. There are... More
