My husband and I ventured into Rio Grill because our nav system lead us astray and we were hungry. We were seated at a table for two and found the atmosphere bright and inviting. One note, all the servers seem to share the work because although we had a waitress we didn't see a whole lot of her. Which is... More

Recommended by the receptionist at the Mission Inn expected nothing but a ”diner” as she described it but great menu, varied, all dishes cooked fresh, not cheap but good value, great wine list helpful & friendly staff and frequented by the locals so would definitely use again.

On the way to the Carmel’s Smart Garden show at the Crossroads, I popped into the Rio Grill at 1 pm and found it busy and bustling with every table and bar seat filled. Taking this as a good sign, we made a reservation for 3 pm and off we went. Returning tired and hungry at 3 pm, I was... More

Growing up, my family used to drive 1.5 hours just to eat at Rio Grill. We loved the whole menu but particularly the artichoke. Just had the artichoke this past weekend. While it was good, it is definitely different than when I was growing up. Service was good. I had a margarita and it was tart, a little too tart... More

We hit the jackpot for lunch on our way north. I wish my phone app allowed me to post pictures of the caricatures of celebrities and local regulars painted all over the walls. If we lived in the arwa? It wouldn't take long for ours to be among them because we would certainly be regulars. We lucked out with a... More

There are a lot of great places to eat in and around Carmel, but this is not one of them. Poor welcome and attention from hostess. Felt like she was doing is a favor after ignoring us for a few minutes. The food was average as was the ambiance and overpriced as well. Tarpys, a sister restaurant, much better. We... More

Had the double cut pork chop. All around good meal for the price, I think $23 which is good for the area. Everything they brought out looked good. Not downtown. Would definitely recommend.

Crusted scallops with chile flavored accents and fruit salsa, over flavored polenta. A must must. On special additions menu. Love the smoked chicken and other items also. Don't let location put you off.

We. took our daughters and grandchildren, ages 4 and 8, to Rio Grill for Saturday dinner. We had an early reservation (6:00 pm), thinking we would avoid their busy time. We ordered appetizers and entrees, and had the kids' meals brought with the appetizers. Then we waited. I took the four year-old outside to run around while we waited. Once the... More

The lunch menu isn't extensive, but what is being offered is unique. I tend to have one of the salads. Last time I ordered the RG Chop Chop with 2 prawns. Fresh, delicious and attractively presented. Tasty special dressing. Service is very friendly if a tad on the slow side. Luckily we weren't in a hurry. Decor is Santa Fe/Mexican/Desert.... More
