Very good Italian dinner in Carmel

A young lady we met at Carmel Beach recommended this restaurant. We took her advice and went there. She did good! All of our appetizers and mains were fresh and tasty. I had the caprese salad to start and the tomatoes were to die for! The free (warm) bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar was also... read more

On our last night in Carmel, my wife and I needed an Italian fix. Il Fornaio was right across the street from out motel. We made reservations on Open Table and mentioned that this was our first visit to the restaurant. As a result, when we were seated we received a bottle of water, an antipasto, and some Calamaretti as... More

The food is amazing and totally made in house. What else can someone say about a most delicious meal in an amazing restaurant.

Had a very nice time at the bar meeting fellow travelors while having a Martini until our wives were able to join us. The meal was a bit mixed. Two of us had the Tour of Italy prix fix and 3 of the dishes were good the Cod was not. Two others ordered off the menu and had a better... More

I want to state that the Manager took care of all of this for us and could not have been nicer. My dear friend and I were looking forward to a fun lunch while shopping in Carmel. We ordered a spinach salad (split) and a small pizza (split). The restaurant was busy but not near capacity. Our server was not... More

We were in the Ocean Room, with windows all around for a brunch for a 70th birthday celebration. Rained almost all morning but it still was beautiful outside. The brunch table was covered in variety of muffins, french toast, fruit, eggs benedict, scrambled eggs and bacon. There were about thirty of us there and it sure seemed like everyone was... More

Integrated with the Pine Inn, this is a nice in-character Italian restaurant. Not cheap, but high quality. Good friendly attentive service. $20 corkage is worth it because the wine is a tad expensive.

A beautiful outdoor patio and a sun drenched room makes Il Fornaio an ideal lunch spot. Their Carpaccio is thin and maybe not cut in house $14 but a nice start. The Ravioli Lucana is tasty and has a great sauce. I'd skip dessert here

Thank you for your kind words. We're truly glad you enjoyed your visit. I would also like to assure you that we do cut our delicious and very thin carpaccio right here. Everything is prepared fresh everyday from scatch with very few exceptions. And I'm surprised you'd skip dessert. I think they are wonderful and all too tempting. Maybe you... More

Il Fornaio in Carmel is a handsome restaurant, offering an extensive menu with a moderate to high price range. Service is usually flawless, but Judy and I happened to go there this month when they were handling a big, loud party on the outside deck. That probably ate up the majority of the staff, which left us with the remains.... More
