Sunset trumps sheep

We've eaten here before, but never had the opportunity to sit outside and watch the sunset while having dinner. Reservations in March around sunset are mandatory. Clubby, relaxed upscale atmosphere. Well balanced menu with pricey entrees as well as salads and burgers. Terrace tables are at a premium to view sunset and a meadow full of sheep and darling lambs coming in for the night. There is a piano bar featuring soft jazz and standards played with style. We... We have visited Carmel every year for the last 6 years and every time have had dinner at this restaurant. The view of the sheep farm is beautiful and the food is fabulous. Have tried most of the menu and have never been disappointed. The Ahi tuna last year was fabulous..I look forward to visting again this year.

This was my second trip to Monterey and a must return dining experience at Mission Ranch. While our late arrival lost our seat on the patio for the setting sun, it was still a real pleasure. I can start with the setting on a sheep ranch with breathtakingly beautiful trees and flowers. Service as attentive and each course perfect for... More

Best scallops probably ever had. Artfully done on a flavorful bed of spinach. Rich and well presented. Seating was slightly crowded and loud but such Great food and views.

It was Sunday, supposedly a quiet evening, early March, the time had been set forward so there was more daylight to be had and the day was quite nice and warm...so no need to rush to get a seat for the sunset...wrong! The big draw these days at the Ranch Restaurant is not the sunset, nor the food, not even... More

I've stayed at the Mission Ranch and eaten at their restaurant the past two nights. Here are the results: Chardonnay 7, Wedge salad 8 on a 10 scale, Filet Mignon 8, House salad 9, Ribs 6, Bread pudding w/bourbon sauce 10. Atmosphere 10, service 10. Overall I would rate it a 9. Love the whole enchilada! Price is ok, given... More

Six friends dined here on a recent Saturday night. Know that guests of the Ranch can request to put their names on a preferred list. We had a 7pm time and were seated in five minutes. The line was out the door. People roll in here at 4:30 and the restaurant fills up quickly (sunset views and the pastoral/ocean setting... More
