Sunset Dinner for 2

What a pleasant surprise! Great food, service and the views at "Rocky Point" are exceptional. We just happened upon this spot without a reservation and lucked out. It was so fun to climb all over the rocks and explore the the narrow "goat path". Hiking boots a must. It was our favorite stop along The Big Sur coastline.

The Rocky Point Restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Usually restaurants located in tourist areas with great views have mediocre food, bad food, high prices, or all three. But this one had very good food , the service was capable and friendly, and the prices were reasonable ($16 for a good sandwich or salad), given the location just south of Carmel,... More

Feels like the waves are crashing on the rocks all around you. Great outdoor seating. After lunch we took our beers down to the lawn area and watched folks hiking down to the rocks. Big lunch salads were very good. Seafood Louis had lots of shrimp and crab. My French dip sandwich was excellent but bring your appetite. Only a... More

My wife and I took our close friends to Rocky Point to celebrate a birhtday. We have been a few times and have not been disappointed since Peter and Grace Wang became the owners, But this was our friends first time there in many years...no surprise but they are now fans. Good food, great service (Thanks, Douglas!) and world class... More

This is our 6th or 7th time to Big Sur and the 1st we ever even heard about Rocky Point. This place has been around for 50 years but does not get a lot of attention, possibly new management? On our way from Carmel going south and about 15-20 minutes before Big Sur, you'll see a sign on your right... More

A surprise dinner for my wife started of perfectly when we walked on to the back patio. The view that met us was stunning. After taking a few photo's we checked in and was taken to our inside table which looked out directly on to the patio and sea view. Gianni was our waiter and we had good fun with... More

Rocky Point is about 10 miles south of Carmel, on Highway 1, right on the ocean. Big Sur scenery, crashing waves, lovely landscaping, very romantic. The menu was diverse, full bar, reasonable prices compared to some Carmel and Big Sur-area 5-star restaurants, and a good wine list as well. We've eaten there in the past, and it was as good... Food was good but very expensive! Drinks were also very pricey. BUT, you are paying for the incredible view! Take in the sunset on the deck, you won't be sorry!
