It was by accident we went here -- the other couple we were with thought we liked oysters and then realized it was another couple they had taken here. So while they thoroughly enjoyed the oysters, we had the shrimp. The shrimp, clam chowder and salads were all great and highly recommend this restaurant.

Be sure to split the order as the portion is rather huge. The fish was well done and the fries were cooked properly. I also had a side salad and some hot tea. The place is really cute and while it was Friday night we didn't have reservations but the wait wasn't too long and we were very happy with... More

With all the rave reviews, we were surprised to find our meal was not nearly as good as expected. We had made reservations through our hotel, so we did not have to wait. As others have mentioned, there are not many tables. There were four of us - we all ordered clam chowder and a main dish. I am not... More

We LOVE this place. Because it is not dog friendly, we can only stop in when we come to Carmel without the pupper dog. On our recent trip, we were alone and so stopped in twice :) The place is very small and you may need to wait outside until a table is available. The smaller the group, the better.... More

We discovered this lovely place during a 3 week road trip down the Pacific Coast Highway (plus Napa). After some fine dining experiences elsewhere we turned up in "fancy" Carmel after a sweaty morning hike looking like a total mess. AW Shucks welcomed us in with open arms, rustled up a place at the bar and fed us one of... More

We had a simple snack---fish & chips for him, grilled cheese sandwich for me---but both were fresh, crisp, & delicious. Very good service, and decent wine. Unpretentious sports bar with lots of locals as well as tourists, which is a good sign.

Great clam chowder soup and fabulous oysters! The server was very friendly. Small place, but worth the wait!

Great atmosphere, very attentive wait staff and fresh seafood, done very well. This is a fun place for oysters on the half shell and a good Bloody Mary!

We just had lunch at A.W. Shucks. When we were in Carmel last November, we tried to go there, but the place is relatively small and tends to be mobbed. We couldn't get in. Today, it was raining like crazy, and we were able to give it a try for lunch. We had a light lunch: we shared a steamed... More

My wife and I were doing the walkabout thing in downtown Carmel one morning and we were talking about stopping somewhere for a good bloody Mary. Sure enough we stumbled on this restaurant that had a sign out front boasting the best bloody in Carmel. We grabbed a couple of bar stools and the first red flag was waiting 10... More
