Description: Grasing’s, located in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, lies along the Pacific Coast in Central California in Monterey County. It is 120 miles south of San Francisco, 70 miles south of San Jose and 350 miles north of Los Angeles. Celebrity chef partners, Kurt Grasing and Narsai David, truly created a gem. Fancifully designed in warm hues and modern art work, Grasing’s sets the stage for entertaining that is at once festive and intimate. From friendly and professional service, an award winning wine list and seasonally inspired cocktails to the fresh and sustainable local ingredients are only a few reasons why Grasing’s still receives rave reviews from the press. Just recently, Grasing’s was awarded “Restaurant of the Year” and “Business of the Year” by the Carmel Business Association. Chef Grasing was also honored recently by the American Culinary Federation and received an award for “Chef of the Year”.

My husband and I visited this restaurant on a recent trip to Stanford to see my daughter. We were seated in a room with an elderly couple. They proceeded to have a conversation with the waiter and "the person in charge" (not sure who he was) about how he hated the tourist and thought they should leave. They joked and... More

We stopped in Grasings for dinner and had a wonderful meal. We were a bit under dressed but no one seemed to care. My wife had prawns and I had a small fillet. The entres were wonderful and the vegetables were excellent. We had a small order of onion rings and they were first class. I could have made dinner... More

Attractive dining area. Superb service. Alas, if only the food could keep pace. Onion tart was soggy and tasteless. Lettuce wedge with blue cheese dressing was skimpy and boring. (How can you blow an item that's done well by even a mediocre eatery?) The shrimp in my paella were overcooked, and the dish overall lacked the clash of prominent flavors... More

A business associate and I ate dinner here last evening. We are global travelers and enjoy great food. Since we had to drive back to San Francisco we opted for an early reservation. We both ordered appetizers and main course. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice, fresh and clean with good music playing lightly in the background. The... More

My husband and I had our anniversary dinner at Grasings and were not disappointed. The restaurant is small but intimate, we didn't mind at all. The staff was kind and very helpful. We shared the onion rings for an appetizer (awesome!) and I had the filet which was cooked perfectly. The wine list is extensive, which is normal I assume... More

Dining at Grasing's restaurant was a great experience. Good service and well prepared food made for a wonderful dining experience. We stopped at the restaurant without reservations. We were greeted pleasantly. The employees happily seated us. The server was friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was perfectly prepared. Great place for dinner.

My wife and I arrived in Carmel around 6:30pm on a Friday evening in September. After check in to our hotel we drove around to find somewhere to eat. We passed Grasing's and found a parking space right outside the front door. We entered and asked how long the wait would be for a table for 2. The hostess spent... More

On our recent visit to Carmel we made reservations at Grasing's. My wife had the bone-in filet, our friends had the Ribeye and Filet ...and I had the veal chop. All the food was amazing, flavorful, tender and perfectly prepared. Although many of their wines are very highly priced we found an excellent Cab for under $100. The service was... More

I was walking round Carmel with a friend and we asked a few people where to have a light interesting lunch , this was suggested by about three individual people so we thought we would try it . Service was good friendly but not great a bit slow but it was a busy week . On balance I would say... More

Went to Carmel again this year, and, of course, had to go to Grasing's - we think it's the best restaurant in Carmel. Also, the day we arrived (which was late in the afternoon) we decided to go to their bar before checking into our room and were so glad we did. Gina's cocktails and hospitality were outstanding, and the... More
