Description: Grasing’s, located in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, lies along the Pacific Coast in Central California in Monterey County. It is 120 miles south of San Francisco, 70 miles south of San Jose and 350 miles north of Los Angeles. Celebrity chef partners, Kurt Grasing and Narsai David, truly created a gem. Fancifully designed in warm hues and modern art work, Grasing’s sets the stage for entertaining that is at once festive and intimate. From friendly and professional service, an award winning wine list and seasonally inspired cocktails to the fresh and sustainable local ingredients are only a few reasons why Grasing’s still receives rave reviews from the press. Just recently, Grasing’s was awarded “Restaurant of the Year” and “Business of the Year” by the Carmel Business Association. Chef Grasing was also honored recently by the American Culinary Federation and received an award for “Chef of the Year”.

Wife and I had dinner here. Came away stuffed and the food was top notch. We had an appetizer plate of Calamari and breaded Leeks which was done very well. She had the polenta and I had the paella - both were excellent. Staff was very attentive. We were so full we couldn't have the dessert. Couldn't ask for more.

Best Sunday brunch ever. I had the crab avocado eggs Benedict and it was to die for. My husband had the crab frittata. Both were served with potatoes and fruit. We both had mimosas and coffee and everything was perfect. Our servers were very attentive. I wish we had gone back for dinner while we were in Carmel because I'm... More

The food was over priced and tasted terrible. I had steak tacos and it tasted like the greased needed to be changed and the steak needed to be chopped into smaller pieces. I guess I'm not pose enough for that type of place.

Sat outside with our dog and had a very nice meal, with great service and good food. The menu was lovely with many choices; a large wine list--we brought our own ($25 corkage). Split the ceasar salad. My wife had steel head salmon and I had steak...mine was excellent, hers kind of dry and not much flavor. We felt the... More

Had dinner at the bar on a recent trip. Food was good. I had the steak sandwich and my husband had the filet. He thought the filet was outstanding, but was not thrilled with the lobster mac and cheese. Bartender, Ira, was personable and we had a nice time. Prices were a little steep; but this is Carmel. As I... More

It was a bit intense with the waiting staff too involved too much of the time. I'm sure this is well meant but there should be a degree of reading the customer. Food quite old fashioned and heavy.

We went there without having a reservation after a let-down at Cantinetta Luca. The host at Grasing was extremely friendly and helpfull and found us a nice table. We had the charcuterie plate to start with and it was a visiual and savoury pleasure. The Cod was excellent, nicely presented and not killed by too much sauce and too many... More

Grasing's prides itself as the best restaurant in Carmel. I don't know if that is true but it certainly is a very good restaurant. Our waiter suggested a moderate priced local wine that was enjoyable. The wine prices varied but leaned to the high side. Desserts sounded and looked delicious. I would definitely return here on my next trip to... More

Such a pretty restaurant..looked so inviting. We went for a late lunch and it was quiet, beautiful and relaxing! Too bad our food was so awful. We each had the grilled cheese. The poorest ever! Carmelized onions were certainly not carmelized and the rest of the sandwich was ...meh! The salad with mine was great and the fries with my... More
