We Love Porabella

To us, this is the ideal place to have lunch in Carmel. If it is a sunny day, you won't find a better place than to sit out front ( with your dog) while you enjoy your meal. They have excellent soups, pâté, salads and a classic burger. On overcast days head inside, it's cozy.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and the great service at Portabella. And the food was delicious and unique. I had the Grilled Pork Tenderloin which was cooked perfectly with great sauce. The sides were different, apple polenta and red cabbage. I really liked them even though I wasn't sure what they were going to taste like. The servers were excellent.

Perfect summer night - charming, quaint eatery. Wonderful service and good food. Wife had a spectacular salad topped with a salmon filet. I had a fantastic scallops plate. Top it off with a great glass of wine. The owner is very nice and well spoken. Truly a treat. I highly recommend.

The Hotel is in the corner of our Hotel, Normandy Inn. The food is good, as well the service. You can sit outside, if weather permits.

Had a couple of the pasta dishes; penne and fettuccine. Just average. Sauce on penne was from a jar I think. Service was good although an off hour so would expect plenty of attention. Decent prices. Warm fresh bread.

It was our first visit to Carmel and every place we saw was a picture post-card worthy material! We walked along the Ocean Avenue looking for the right ambience and outdoor-dining to make the best use of the sun on the winter afternoon. We were two couples and we found a nice table near the entrance ensconced between the hotel... More

Celebrated 50th Wedding Anniversary dinner at Portabella and the setting, foo,and personalized service could not have been more perfect. The attention to everyone in the restaurant was outstanding and "real" not just "how is the food---enjoying your meal" comments usually given at restaurants with waiter not really wanting any real comments. Cannot wait to return for another 1st class dinner... More

Carmel is an inviting community and the Portabella truly drew us in with its charming exterior. The host was wonderful and was very attentive to our needs. However, the same could not be said for our waiter. That counted for average score on service. I love halibut and could not resist it, while my wife ordered the sea bass. Both... More
