Three of us dined at Portabella tonight. One companion had the Rack of Lamb Provençale and devoured it with a smile on his face. Another had the Filet Mignon aux Poivres (a three-peppercorn crust) , and though he commented on how spice the aux poivre was, he ate every morsel. I ordered the Capellini di Limone al Sapore di Mare... More

Last night we had the pleasure of dining at Portabella while in Carmel. The ambiance is cozy and charming, we did not have a reservation on a Sat. night and we were promptly seated in the main dining room. The Crab Bisque was creamy and delicious, the Salmon with Risotto and Ratouille was excellent, we paired our meal wtih a... More

There store many great restaurants in Carmel and this is one of them! We went because of a couple of recommendations from the locals and were not dissapointed. Food was great, service was average, but we will return! P.S. If you are traveling with your pet, they are VERY pet friendly!

We went with a group of friends on a holiday weekend. I have wated tables in the past and bartended as well and am very forgiving of extenuating circumstances. Unfortunately, one of the kitchens was supposedly down and we ended up waiting 90 minutes for our food. When our food arrived my chicken was overcooked and not very tasty. I... More

My wife and I ate at Portabella in late May, 2010. We were greeted by some bafoon in the outdoor area with a bizarre hat. He may be the owner. He directed us to another person who led us to a table inside. It was about 6:30 pm and the restaurant was mostly empty. It took an eternity for a... More

Portabella is a tradition every time we are in the Monterey area. They are friendly and welcoming. In fact, we originally went because the Maître d' came outside on a cold winter night to comment on how cute our Basset Hound was. He was very genuine and friendly and personally invited us to have dinner there. We did not go... More

I have been dining here for many many years, since I was but a little bohemian wandering the streets of carmel searching for the ghost of robinson jeffers. The food is always great, with excellent desserts and a great wine list. Nothing beats a nice bottle of grgich hills sauvignon blanc after a tough day of marching thru the sand... More

2 persons in our group became ill about 4-6 hours after eating there......we shared the goat cheese ravioli appetizer and the chocolate mousse cake. No one else ate these items and no one else got sick. Will never go back.
