Portablla was a lovely little spot that offered a beautifully presented water dish to our Rosie. The food was wonderfully prepared. We ordered the famous tomato bisque soup. It was so yummy. We also tried the goat cheese ravioli. This too was very tasty. The balsamic reduction was amazing. Luis, the manager and his staff were very sweet. My only... More

After walking our dog on the beach; my wife and I were looking for a place to have a late afternoon meal where we could sit outside and continue to enjoy the beautiful day with our dog. We thought of Portobella and hit the jackpot. We sat at a table in the front where we could enjoy people watching and... More

The menu had a nice variety. We were pleased with the table service, our server was very gracious. The food was delicious. The portions were also nice. A good wine selection. We will be back.

Wife and I ate here on our 1 night stay in Carmel. Monday evening so not that busy but still enough people in to have a bit of atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive and food was fab! My wife had seafood pasta and me the pork tenderloin. Both very good and huge portions. Not cheap (no where is in... More

We wandered toward Portabella at dinner time and were greeted at the door by a very friendly and exuberant host. He seated us immediately and introduced us to our waitress. The menu was interesting and the wine list was adequate. I had the coq au vin and my husband had the lamb. Both dishes were excellent and the service was... More

Several friends and websites recommended Portabella for it's unique and delicious menu. It was, in fact, very good! However it was also very pricey. We were there for lunch and only ordered soups and salads (the famed crab bisque is excellent) and the bill for 4 people was over $150. I would suggest going here on a special date, for... More

So, we have eaten here several times and discovered it because we could bring our dogs to the front or back patio. The service is always friendly and prompt. They brought water bowls for the dogs. We must say their fries are one of the best ever. At our last visit the women had sand dabs and the men rack... More

First, we were surrounded by dogs and I then I remembered Carmel is a haven for dog fanciers and they are welcomed in restaurants unlike most places in the US. We had 2 at the table next to us, one held in her owner's lap thru dinner, and 3 at the table behind us. The restaurant is warm and inviting.... More

We had high hopes here. We were seated in a wonderful corner out of the way, just how we like it, and our server was absolutely delightful. The only thing we had difficulty with here was the food. Wine list was thin and features lower priced European fare (amongst others) but nothing on the list (including our French choice) provided... More
