Fooled by look of it. My fois GRAS did remained on my plate after a few attempts at enjoyment. The wine. A glass and then in for the night. Nothing to remember except I couldn't wait to leave and was sorry I didn't go to Mission Ranch, the Grill or several other goodies in Carmel.

No management of staff providing table service. One waiter was especially obnoxious by encouraging locker room talk and noise from some ' friends' dining there. Tables/chairs crammed in to allow maximum guests. And this is Carmel's most romantic resteraunt ? Tip: excellent food - go for lunch....with a bit of luck you'll enjoy the food and can enjoy your own... More

This is a charming restaurant. We were greeted warmly ( not our first time for the restaurant but the hostess was new to us) and seated in a two table alcove which adds to the experience, especially if you're looking for a romantic setting. Our server was Danny boy (aka Ziad). He told us the specials and then told us... More

I am a local and I have never been disappointed in the last 15 years that I have been going to Casanova... The food is better now than ever.... It's not cheap but it is the best value 3 courses between $35 and $45 now that is great... Wines? they must have over 200 wines under $50 and they must... More

Recommended as a "European" type eatery, maybe Eastern Europe, way over the top on prices for the food served, prix fixe means little knowledge in the kitchen. Pretense, yes, service, ok , food, nothing special,

November 21st, 2009 Casanova is good but definitely not worth the high prices they charge. The only food I found to be outstanding was the Gnocci. Everything else was average and the portions were really small for the price. We spent $175 dollars.. Really not that romantic of a place. Our waitress even snapped at me over ordering. I don't... Top notch food, excellent service, and a rustic warm setting made our dinner there one of the best dining expereinces we've ever had. Went there on the recomendation of a friend who'd eaten there over 5 years ago, and were not at all disappointed. We ate outside in their courtyard which has lots of heat lamps to ward off the... We were visiting Carmel with another couple and this restaurant came highly recommended but we were VERY disappointed. The service was attentive and atmosphere was quaint but food was mediocre at best. The duck pate was the consistancy of dry meatloaf and tasted blah. The canaloni tasted like Chef Boyardee. The seafood pasta that 3 of us ordered had rotten... More

My wife and I agreed to return to Carmel each year at our anniversary just to experience Casanova. Plan for a very long evening. Dining here takes over 2 hours...it is not a order and eat place. We think the patio is the best room. Extensive wine list. Bring your credit card and ignore the prices. The pace and food... More

Loved the multi-room dining area. A beautiful structure. Very intimate and fabulous decor. Nice outdoor atrium. The food is great and varied. French/Italian Mediterranean cuisine. However, the entrees are incredibly expensive ($35 for pasta) and do not include any side orders. Similarly, the wine list is extensive and expensive. They charged us $32 "corkage" to open the bottle that we... More
