Authentic Tuscan cuisine and a caring staff.. One of he best restaurants in Carmel. Worth making reservations for (you'll need them well in advance most times).
This is a small very busy restaurant in Carmel. The food was excellent. There were 5 of us and we all ordered an entree and split 5 apps. The octopus is a must order. The Osso Buco entree was amazing! Best lamb I've ever had. The desserts were ok. Wine list was great. Our waiter even let us try a... More
Loved that the locals eat here and cherish it. The pasta is home made. The Osso Buca was great as was the the pork loin. The waiter was attentive and the ambiance of this small place was just charming.
Fresh and tasty food, helpful and friendly staff, comfortable and warm setting! Please stop by and tell the owner the couple from New Jersey/Manhattan Beach sent you! (I promised I would spread the word!) The fried green tomatoes are deliciously coated in corn crumbs, the broccolini and potatoes are crispy and flavorful. The pasta is fresh, the soup is hearty...I... More

Wonderful restaurant with great outdoor seating in back and in front. The octopus with melon was one of the best appetizers I have ever had. We shared the osso buco which was made with lamb instead of veal and topped with a mint gremolata. Different and delicious. The wine list was very interesting and reasonably priced. The portions are very... More

After a very poor meal at a different Italian place in Carmel on our first night there... we tried La Balena on our... More
Had the fried chicken and pasta with salads. Very good, fresh ingredients all around. $130 for two with wine, taxes, tip.
Walking in we weren't expecting very much. Very few inside tables and a very limited menu but everything we tried was wonderful. The staff was very attentive and very professional. The restaurant was recommended to us by the Tickle Pink Inn. It was great!
