My husband and I both ordered different fish entrees and they were excellent. Dessert was a hot chocolate ice cream which was the perfect ending to a perfect day. A romantic restaurant perfect for 2.

I went with my boyfriend when we were staying in Carmel for a night and we absolutely loved it. We split a bottle of Montery County white wine which was reasonably priced and we loved so much we actually ordered for my dad for father's day. We had a beef appetizer and each had a different fish dish. They were... More

Fun atmosphere and excellent food -- highly recommend the almond-covered sea bass. But here's what really stood out. We were choosing a wine -- a Sauvignon Blanc -- and saw some labels that we could get anywhere back home, so we decided to pick something local. There were several Monterey-area wines on the list and we asked the waiter what... More

We visited the Flying Fish on a one night visit to Carmel, on a short road trip from LA to San Francisco. We had been recommended by our hotel. We were not disappointed, the food was delicious. The sea bass was the best ever. The tempura prawns and vegetables were lovely, still crisp inside with a very light crisp coating, just... More

My husband and I both ordered the Sea Bass...his was good, mine was not. Owner agreed. Brought me a substitute and charged full price. Gimme a break. I don't usually complain, but I could not eat it. They were nice and all, but I expected at least a glass of wine on the house.

This is a Japanese-style restaurant, quite compact, with booths, and noisy. The food was great! I had the halibut, which was wrapped in some kind of rice paper and laid on leeks and ginger and was delicious; while my wife had the rare peppered ahi tuna, again, delicious ( we trade!). The service was friendly and efficient. Wine prices were... More

We were in Carmel for a girls trip, and booked this somewhat last minute. I'm so glad we did! Service was excellent, for was fresh and interesting. I had the Seafood Pasta, which was tasty, and not swimming in fat, as this dish can be. I can't remember what everyone else had due to the several excellent bottles of Rombauers.... More

We arrived from San Jose for my son's birthday dinner with no reservations. It's a small restaurant and we didn't realize reservations were needed. Our hosts managed to squeeze us in between previous bookings. Everything was fabulous. They really worked to make sure we weren't disappointed. Wontons and salsa? Sounds strange but it was very tasty and not filling. My... More

Walk down a few steps from the Carmel Plaza into a different world. Fresh fish done in imaginative ways. The almond crusted sea bass on a bed of mashed potatoes and napa cabbage is wonderful. The clean, rustic Japanese decor is comfrotable and serene.

We really enjoyed our dinner at the Flying Fish Grill. Our meals were delicious and nicely prepared. We had the Ahi Tuna and almond crusted Sea Bass. Yumm. Perfectly prepared with blanched green beans (just right, not too well done) and a layer of mashed potatoes. Can't say enough about our service! My husband spilled a bit of his red... More
