Chosen at random whilst walking around Carmel, and popped in to make the reservation. Did not look at Trip Advisor reviews.......it's good to take the odd risk. This one paid off. The service was friendly and efficient, and was matched by good food. This was one of two excellent dining experiences during our brief stay.

Altho they have had the same menu for a long time, eating there is always a treat! I wish their bench seats had more cushion and some lower back support would be welcome as well.

My wife and I took a hotel recommendation and had dinner here recently while on vacation. We came away very pleased and considered we had enjoyed a creative meal at a moderate (for Carmel) price. Flying Fish is a walk-down Asian fusion restaurant one block off Ocean that offers some cozy spaces--the walled booths can be especially romantic. I loved... More

I took my wife here for her birthday. We had a reservation on the memorial day weekend and were seated promptly. The waiter was attentive and friendly. Our dishes were tasty and we enjoyed them. My visit took a turn when I went back to the restroom and realized how dingy the interior is. I don't think I really noticed... More

Friday night after a pleasant day on the Links, we rolled into the Flying Fish Grill in Carmel for a truly wonderful Monterey California/Asian seafood experience. Rated by many as the best seafood restaurant up and down the North Cali coastline, the Flying Fish is situated surprisingly for its rep in a lower floor space in the Carmel Plaza. But... More

Went here on the recommendation of a local and very impressed. The wonton chips and salsa tasted amazing. The server provided veggies to accommodate a gluten free diner. The California stack and tuna tar tar were perfect. Again the server anticipated a gluten free need and brought tamari sauce. We shared the halibut and the chef sent separate plates which... More

We have been coming to the Fish for nearly 20 years whenever we visit from Southern California. We both always have the almond crusted Seabass which I am happy to say has never changed. It is absolutely delicious and cannot be beat!

We arrived in Carmel without dinner reservations on a Sunday night. After some thorough research and speaking to our receptionist we chose the flying fish grill. We arrived and were greeted by a friendly host who asked us to wait whilst our table was made up. After some chips and dip our waiter arrived to take our order. We had... More

The service in this cute little restaurant is as good as the food--which is saying a lot! The owner and his wife were greeting and serving guests and it felt as if we were in someone's home. Everything we ate was personal and pleasing, and even quite healthy. We'll absolutely come back...soon!
