The Frying Fish Grill provides a great dining experience from the second you walk through the door to the time you leave. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. They treat you like they know you. The ambiance is warm and comfortable. And, the food is the best. I can' say enough good things about this place. We started with... More

The food was great and the setting has a lot of character. This restaurant added to our fantastic stay in Carmel and the service was excellent. We will definately eat there again on our next visit.

We had heard about the great seafood on hand at the Flying Fish Restaurant in Carmel. So, we invited some friends and decided to give it a try. First of all, the restaurant has a real ‘cozy’ feel about it, small booths, plenty of privacy and a restaurant where everyone can actually talk to one another without shouting across the... More

We had heard really great things about this restaurant but left very disappointed. It all started with the call for a reservation. Kevin called to ask if we needed reservations and the host acted annoyed and told hubby (and I quote), "“It’s really noisy in here, I just can’t hear you” but Kev left our name anyway. We arrived on... More

I expected this to be a straight fish restaurant but it was more than that. There were unexpected asian flavors and dishes were delicious with complex flavors. Service was great. It is in a basement and cozy, and the fish in parchment was the best I have had.

What can I say that hasn't been mentioned before? Yes the wine list is small compared to other restaurants, but with at least ten Pinot Noirs to choose from, we were able to find a great bottle for under $40. Dinner was fabulous - spring rolls were delicious, calamari was fantastic and the beef clay pot was a great experience... More

My wife and I have been to the Flying Fish many times over the last few years while in Carmel for vacation. After our first year, we make a point to eat there twice during the week. I've had the ahi a few times and it was great, but it's usually sea bass for me. I considered licking rather than... More

Ate here with another couple recently. They suggested that the chef might prepare the halibut in parchment the same was as the black cod was listed on the menu, and sure enough, the kitchen was happy to accommodate the request. The fish was delicious, perfectly cooked, and very compatible with the sauce. Another in our group had the halibut prepared... More
