We found this cozy restaurant during a vacation to California. Carmel is a charming seaside town with many shops and restaurants. This small restaurant is convenient and has many good menu choices. The Peppered Ahi entrée was especially tasty, along with the Black Bean Halibut prepared steamed in paper pouches. the wine list was varied and reasonably priced. The servers... More

My wife and I ate here when we were stopping in Carmel overnight, on the way to Big Sur, after flying in to SFO from Boston. This asian inspired seafood restaurant was just right for that night. Fish, not to elaborate, but done right. It's also popular with locals, which is always a good sign. We'd go back.

When I made the reservation, I had no idea that Flying Fish had an Oriental bent. I knew from the reviews that the seafood was reported to be excellent, but when the won ton chips w/dipping sauces came, I thought this might be special. It was! Everything that we ordered was truly exceptional, especially the halibut and salmon. We definitely... More

You must make a reservation. We really enjoyed our meal. We started with 2 appetizers my husband had the California tower basically a deconstructed crab roll, it was delicious, I had ordered a spicy tuna tartare, I did not find it very spicy but it was good. I think I will try the crispy spring rolls next time or get... More

My wife and I ate fabulous meals tonight. Flying Fish is an unassuming place. Dress up or dress down, whatever your personal preference may be for the night. We were seated promptly even though we were early for our reservation. Our waiter was attentive and helpful with our choices. The food was fresh and really flavorful. I had the halibut... More

We are locals and tend to go the the same couple of favorite restaurants. Wanting something different for my birthday dinner I looked on TA and found Flying Fish. It was terrific. Really unique and delicious fish dishes. Fresh and healthy. Our group of 4 tried the halibut, sea bass and black cod. While the cod was very good, the... More

Husband and I really enjoyed our dinner here this week while staying in Carmel. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. We really enjoyed the entire experience and we think they have fresh, quality food prepared in a very caring way by chefs who know what they are doing!

Good welcome, fantastic food! Rich thanks for being a fab host, great recommendations regarding food and wine. And many thanks for the local tips. We loved our night at The Flying Fish! If you love fresh local food with an Asia twist, this is the restaurant for you!

The Flying Fish Grill is one of the most popular restaurants in central Carmel for good reasons. The interior is small, but well designed with open wood screens separating the tables, thus creating the environment of private dining, or, in other words, it's cozy and romantic. Reservations over the telephone were cordial, as well as the reception. The service could... More

This place is understated class with food to die for. I have never had fish so good in my life and I grew up in Maine so I have had plenty. The service was also some of the best I have ever had as well. Can not wait to go back
