Always a great dining experience when in Carmel... Food is off the charts and service is exceptional. Tony, our server, was fantastic! We will be back next time in town!

As soon as we walked in, we were pleasantly greeted but who I assume were the owners. Everyone that helped us was very nice and helpful. Food was very good, including the flaky crabcake appetizer which we would totally order again. Owner even played the ukelele(?) and sang. Atmosphere was nice, just a bit cozy (tables are close together). Overall... More

California/American-inspired Japanese cuisine. Complementary "salsa" (tomato, onion, GINGER!) served w/chips (very thin wheat-based crackers) and sliced cucumber & carrots for our wheat-allergic diner. The California Tower is far superior to any California roll ... the flakely large pieces of crab reminded me it is one of the best foods when dining in the San Francisco Bay/Monterey Peninsula area. The Black... More

We were there on New Year's Eve. The place was packed, it is small, efficiently set up, but a little cramped. Service was perfect, food was out of this world. Shared a shabu shabu (beef and vegetable soup) and had the best salmon I have ever had. Wine list was extense and reasonably priced. Overall, an amazing dinner

Carmel by the Sea is a lovely little village on the Pacific, and this restaurant captures the environment nicely. We were greeted by the husband and wife owners, who continued to be attentive throughout our meal. The service itself was impeccable; we were fortunate to have a great waiter. His recommendations regarding the food and wine were spot on, and... More

A long standing Japanese inspired seafood restaurant, we found the food & service to be great. A casual atmosphere with attentive not pretentious service. My only "complaint" would be that the side of steamed vegetables were the same as the vegetables on 2 of the main course. To be fair, the waiter did try to advise us that we didn't... More

We were encouraged by our hotel to try this place out, as it is so popular. We went for a nice dinner for 2 and enjoyed the atmosphere. However, the food was not as good as we were told. I ordered a soup which was supposed to be spicy, but it was way too spicy and I nearly choked on... More

Our third trip to the Flying Fish in Carmel, our favorite meal during our visit. The mood is casual with booths that give a private feel. The food is obviously mostly seafood but with a Japanese touch. Everything I've ever eaten there has been delicious such as nut crusted sea bass over potatoes surrounded by a broth with cabbage--tasted so... More

This was truly a remarkable meal. The service was exceptional, they provide a respectable wine list and the meal was amazing. The restaurant has a warm ambience, appearing rustic but very comfortable. The spicy tuna tartare and tempura prawns were lovely starters, we ordered the black bean halibut and almond-crusted sea bass and swapped plates halfway so we could both... More
