Absolutely wonderful!

From start to finish this place was a joy and the best meal we've had in California since arriving. The manager is the most friendly and informative person you could find in a restaurant and on arriving he gave us a choice of tables (how often does that happen?) We selected one opposite a fire. This restaurant used to be one of the best Carmel has to offer. I have dined here many times over the past seventeen years I have lived in Carmel. It has long been a go-to restaurant for us to take out-of-town guests. Unfortunately, for the past couple of years, we have found this restaurant has gone down hill, both in... More

Many reviews stated it was not that easy to have reservation. It was quite true that when we called one week ahead, only time the restaurant could give us either 5 or 9pm. It would give us high expectation for the place. The service was good. The decor was adequate. However, the food did not meet the rating. We ordered... More

Loved the fresh fish.. I had the steamed halibut - prepared with an asian twist - fantastic.. My boyfriend had the salmon which was also very good. The sticky rice ball they serve with this is so-so.. Traditional steamed rice would be a better option. The mashed potatoes tasted a bit odd as well.. Overall, the entrees and service are... More

We were expecting outstanding asian style seafood. The food was ok and the atmosphere was very crowded and loud.

During a recent stay in Carmel, my wife and I wanted a very special dinner, one that featured seafood, as well as an, Asian flair. We found it at the Flying Fish Grill. First, I must tell you that the Flying fish is a very small restaurant, that seats fewer than 50 diners. Tables can be hard to come by.... More

Always a great dining experience when in Carmel... Food is off the charts and service is exceptional. Tony, our server, was fantastic! We will be back next time in town!

As soon as we walked in, we were pleasantly greeted but who I assume were the owners. Everyone that helped us was very nice and helpful. Food was very good, including the flaky crabcake appetizer which we would totally order again. Owner even played the ukelele(?) and sang. Atmosphere was nice, just a bit cozy (tables are close together). Overall... More

California/American-inspired Japanese cuisine. Complementary "salsa" (tomato, onion, GINGER!) served w/chips (very thin wheat-based crackers) and sliced cucumber & carrots for our wheat-allergic diner. The California Tower is far superior to any California roll ... the flakely large pieces of crab reminded me it is one of the best foods when dining in the San Francisco Bay/Monterey Peninsula area. The Black... More
