Charming Cafe

We have been to Carmel by the Sea a number of times but never tried this spot. It was New Years Eve Day and we wanted a quiet lunch and love good French Onion soup. I will admit up front - I love this place. During a visit in December, I went solo for lunch with a book in hand. They seated me in the window so that I could watch the holiday street activity. I had the caesar salad and was delighted by the very fresh romaine. They brought me a pitcher of iced... More

What a disappointment! We thought it was adorable when we walked in but it went totally downhill from there. Mainly young girls handling the table service. All looked as though they wanted to be elsewhere. We started with Kir Royal's to drink...not like any I've had elsewhere but definitely not good. On to French onion soup...so/so but very bland. Then,... More

We were very pleased with our recent dining experience at Le St. Tropez. Starting off with a wonderful champagne cocktail, they bring out a free plate of roasted beets, grilled zucchini and red bell peppers and hummus. All very tasty. We started with escargots which were everything they're suppose to be. We both ordered the Sweetbreads, because we love them... More

This is a lovely little restaurant tucked away in Carmel. I chose a simple meal without appetizers or dessert, but my entree, the wild mushroom ravioli, was simply spectacular.

We had had a late lunch and really weren't that hungry - but French Onion soup, OK always have room for that! And Escargot...oh yes, a main meal anytime....we walked i with no reservation as the hostess was accommodating another group with no reservations. She put us outside on their patio, under the heaters, next to a glowing fire pit... More

Great spot for lunch or dinner. They have recently opened an outdoor dining area, nice and cozy. The food and service are great. We had the Penne Pasta and Chicken, both done extremely well. Don't miss this bit of France in cozy Carmel. Carmel Terrific!

Had a late lunch so didn't want a full blown meal. Found this place and enjoyed it very much. No reservation so they sat us by the fire in the patio. Excellent and with cocktails, even more charming:-) Had the French Onion soup and it was delicious. Followed with the escargot which was also very good. Happy campers so off... More

This little gem is nicely appointed in yellow and blue. We read the recommendations for the wild mushroom raviolis and they were the best thing we ate in our 2 days of dining in the Carmel area on this last trip.
