Terrific asparagus ravioli plus small plate of local abalone. Add Chardonnay, sunshine, and personal service for a perfect lunch. Oh yes, blood orange cheesecake was a great finish.

How fortunate the staff at Playa Carmel recommend Basil for lunch. It was a beautiful sunny May Day and we secured a seat on the patio. We started with drinks. Make sure you try the homemade lemon cello martini. Appetizers included pea soup - exquisite and a salad made with local ripe peaches. We shared the asparagus ravioli which was... More

We loved the experience at Basil and were impressed with the vegetarian options. I had the ravioli while my wife had beet ravioli. Really nice flavors!

We dined here on Easter Sunday for dinner, per a recommendation from our hotel. We didn't have reservations, but waited for no more than 5 minutes. The restaurant is cozy, and the service is amazing. Our waitress (Kat) made the dining experience fun and relaxed! All the flavors were clean and the ingredients were extremely fresh. My friend had the... More

On our 2 week road trip in California, this was one of the highlights. We arrived at 7:15pm to an empty restaurant and were slightly worried but by 7:30pm, the restaurant was full. On the recommendation of our server we had the black squid linguine and roast chicken, both excellent. Corkage was $15. They make killer martini's! The service was... More

Passing through Carmel, we were recommended by a local to eat at Basil. On this chilly and rainy evening, I started with the soup, a chicken and kale soup, which warmed the soul. For the main course, I had the fish special, which was caught that day. It was delicious. For dessert I had the flourless chocolate cake with pumpkin... More

Our first lunch stop in Carmel. Service a little slow; interesting food selections. All local ingredients which were fresh and wonderful. I had a salad which was wonderful. Quaint setting across from a local wine-tasting stop. Friendly people like eating in your neighborhood. Worth sitting outside when the weather is wonderful.

The three people at our table had the cauliflower cream soup, the autumn gnocci, the lamb meatballs, the shaved Brussels sprouts salad and the roasted beet salad and all were delicious. We also shared Pumpkin Cheese Cake with Vanilla Sauce and Rum soaked Dried Plums. The cheese cake was light, moist, and tasty and the rum soaked dried plums were... More

Carmel is a foodie town. This place gets it right. The details are all there, the green vibe, Reidel wine glasses and fresh fresh food. Our waiter,Douglas told us stories about the chef- how the pate was created(delicious) . We sat outside as there were dogs with us-hello,it's Carmel, the warming lamp were turned on and it was very pleasant.... More

This was about our 5th visit to Basil for lunch. The food is really outstanding! Delicious flavors and the best ingredients. It's incredibly delcious! I'm not sure why we feel compelled to try other restaurants in Carmel. :)
