First visit was a special treat

A friend recommended Basil, so we tried it for a late lunch. There was one server, and only one other couple seated in the courtyard at the time. After we were seated, the server brought a plate of sliced bread with a fresh basil dipping sauce. Service was very good, although our server did not... read more

Basil`s is tucked away so be sure to look carefully. It`s small so making reservations is a very good plan. We didn`t want a big dinner so we ordered 2 Appetizers and divided dessert. We stated out with their specialty cocktails. One was passionfruit and rum. The other was Basil and pomegranate. These were freshly made....wonderful flavors! The appetizers were... More

Lovely restaurant that also offers seating outside. Good selection of salads, and even as a vegetarian one has quite a few dishes to choose from. Very friendly staff. Not the cheapest place to eat but definitely worth it. My friend loved the lamb meatballs

A small but friendly place for lunch/dinner in Carmel. The menu was seasonal with a nice range of choices. Casual but comfortable.

Had lunch here over the weekend. The service was poor. It took 10 minutes just to get water. I had to ask twice to get pepper. Listened to people at surrounding tables struggle to get the drinks they ordered, dessert menus, etc. The place was only half full and they had plenty of staff. The food okay. I had a... More

Having read great reviews, I may have expected too much from this small place, but I was very disappointed by the food, service, and setting. Brought my dog, so was seated outside, which I expected, but the outdoor seating is really just an open space in the walkway between shops, and neither cozy nor comfortable, plus easily overlooked by the... Usually I don't like gnocchi but they were the best I have ever tasted and will return for that! Small restaurant but staff was friendly and pays attention to your needs. Chef is friendly and chats too!

Excellent location, very tasty food but very small portions and expensive. But that comes as no surprise. We set outside which was very pleasant with the heaters going. I recommend the restaurant just bring lots of cash.

This is a tiny restaurant doing wonderful food and offering tremendous service. I had the abalone appetizer (heavenly!) and the squid ink linguine with sea urchin sauce (fantastic!). Ordered a cocktail that was perfect (modern rye). I would have loved to have tried dessert but I was too full! They also serve bread for the table with this fresh and... More

Absolutely fabulous, fresh, creative farm to table dining. My wife and I started with the oysters with pomegranate mignonette/local seaweed: absolutely popping with flavor. We then followed with the abalone appetizer in vermouth butter sauce/parsnip-butternut squash hash - exquisitely balanced. Plan on soaking up that beautiful sauce with the fresh bread. Next we shared the smoked venison with brussels sprouts/parsnip... More
