Fabulous

We were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary with a weekend in Carmel. There are a number of restaurants to choose from and we decided on Basil. We were not disappointed. Came here with my wife and two adult kids for dinner. Dining room is very small and quite noisy. They also have a handful of tables outside in the patio...which probably would have been a better idea. I had the ravioli...mainly because their menu is very, very limited. The ravioli was tasteless, but my kids had pasta and the beef... More

Had dinner reservations for 6 people Friday night and were ten minutes from there. Got called and said they couldn't accommodate our group. Come later, or sit outside. We ended up eating elsewhere. I just wanted folks to be alert. It's a small restaurant, and seating can be a problem.

Found this spot while searching for an early brunch. It's nestled inside a building courtyard with a couple wine-tasting storefronts across. The service was great and attentive. Brunch selection was ample but also not too extensive -- it was also pretty well priced. I had a starter-gnocchi which was fantastic .. excellent tastes and quite savory (as opposed to a... More

Basil Restaurant claims it serves fresh seasonal food; fresh from local sources. I was not disappointed. Had the lamb meatballs with sheep's milk cheese as an appetizer, and the Berkshire pork sausages with white beans, artichokes and asparagus as the entre. Very delicious; rich in flavor; a little went a long way to satisfying my appetite. I saw many people... More

My husband and I both had the Basil Burger, although his was with bacon. Both were huge and very delicious! I really wanted to finish mine, but couldn't. We also had the soup of the day and it was also very good, but I cannot remember what it was. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside, the food and the excellent service!

someone told us about this place and it was a poor experience. Normal place, bad food. Don't try the hamburgues ever! Go for other places around - you'll find better options.

I really try to like Basil, because the setting is just perfect: yesterday we sat in the nice little courtyard surrounded by galleries, last time we were inside, sophisticated yet simple decor. And here is where the good news ends, sorry! Both times I (and my companions) were very disappointed with the food. For example I had ordered the mascarpone... More

Enjoyed the restaurant so much that we skipped a scheduled event elsewhere the next night and returned for a second dinner here. We sat at one of the dog-friendly tables (with our dog) in courtyard; restaurant has heaters and offers blankets on chilly evenings. Service was prompt efficient, and very friendly (including giving treats to our dog). WINE TIP: Go... More

I was searching for vegan restaurant and Basil came up. Really hard to find, tucked in an arcade. I could only find one vegan option - a ravioli dish it was excellent though and did not disappoint. Husband had beef cheeks and he was pleasantly surprised. It was tender and finger licking good.
