Looking for an afternoon spot to grab a snack and a nice bottle of wine...Basil hit the mark! Our server, Catherine, was amazing... made great recommendations and was attentive and excellent. This is a place we will not miss each time we visit Carmel...

The title of this review pretty much sums it up. This was a "WOW" experience from start to finish. The ambience was lovely, albeit, a little bit noisy when we arrived. The inside dining area is small, and has a very bistro feel to it. Our server, Cat, was a delight. She was warm and fun, and spent just the... More

The food was gorgeous, the best pate I have had, followed by petrole sole and a glass of pinot noir. Service was excellent, great ambience in the restaurant.

We visited this restaurant because it was promoted as organic. We were not disappointed. The server, Jesse, was excellent providing attentive, but not overbearing service. We sat outside next to a gas heater to keep the slight winter chill away. We both had broccolini soup to start, flavorful and nicely presented with generous amount of crusty bread. My salad included pears,... More

We ate lunch at Basil in Carmel for the first time and were very pleasantly surprised at how good the food is. The wife had scallops with prosciutto and I had linguine with squid ink, squid and sea urchin sauce. Very delicious! This is a rather small restaurant, off to the side from the main street, and very casual and... More

Local recommended as a vegan-friendly high quality farm-to-table foods dining experience. Waitress informed us that everything is locally grown and all items, including sausages and mustard, are made in house. We wanted a LIGHT MEAL. So, friend ordered the house Soup and I had Roasted Beet Salad -- both were relatively standard. We also had a side order of the... More

So, I have been going to Carmel, at least once every year, for many years, and this year my family and I drove down for a few days right before New Years. I believe I have tried most of the good restaurants in the area, and we usually visit our mainstays as a matter of tradition. This year we decided... More

We were on a mission in Carmel to walk through every little court in town. Since there are so many, when we finished, we were famished, and a friend who owns a local store said the food was very good here. We had seen the menu, and it was eclectic but interesting, and we decided to try it. We came... More

A great find! Take a nice walk around Carmel, then have a nice dinner at Basil. Our waitress was excellent - smart, nice, attentive, and extremely knowledgable about the menu. Intimate setting inside, with more room on the patio. There are heaters on the patio. They start you off with tasty warm bread and their signature basil spread. We had... More
