We have visited yearly for lunch for the past 3 years while at the Monterey Jazz Fesitval with family and friends. We had lunch reservations for 5 on this very busy weekend. Our server, Ashley, met us at the door and seated us in the courtyard. After a brief conversation she remembered out visit from 1 year ago! Jessica, the... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant tonight. It was warm enough to sit out in the little courtyard, and it was relatively quite as very early evening. Our waitress, Katherine, was just excellent. She was friendly and informative, and made us feel at ease and welcome. We some bread initially, and the accompanying basil dip was fabulous. We had starters of... More

The atmosphere was nice - very California chic. Our waitress was fabulous but she was the only one there with a full house. Oddly, the owner of the restaurant was there as well - eating outside on the patio watching as his staff was drowning. And he wasn't helping because he and his family were there eating putting more of... More

Sat outside and had coffee and cake. Service ok. Not particularly friendly. Would have liked perhaps a 'where are you from?' or 'are you enjoying your visit?' as we were very obviously tourists. Cake was nice enough.

I had the salmon BLT and my wife had the peach salad. Hers was mediocre as the greens and dressing were delicious but the peach was mushy. The serving size was small. My sandwich was wonderful and the salad portion equal almost to a main entree. Most people seemed to be ordering the burger which was very large and looked... More

We dined with our young kids and it was great service and comfortable. On the whole, the food did not suit my tastes. The bread and pesto was outstanding but the remainder was unimpressive given the price. The main dishes were served in very small portions. Venison had maybe 5 slices not amounting to much more than an ounce each... More

Fresh food artfully prepared at good prices-great meal at Basil-what else can I say? I could drink the pesto they serve with the bread-it's that fresh-

charming little restaurant tucked away off the main thoroughfare. the "schtick" is sustainable/local cuisine. There's indoor and outdoor seating...we ate outside - lovely! The food was fine...nothing over the top. I had the salad w/figs and topped it with beef...tasty. The wine selection is decent. Overall a nice dinner experience.

... but once you get there, you are glad you did... the service is outstanding (very attentive especially when they saw us shivering from the evening chill and brought us blankets)... solid menu... and small enough to enjoy the atmosphere...

We went here for a late dinner and were seated right away. We had my 8-month old daughter with us and they were accommodating about a child, especially late, which was nice. The food was delicious and fairly reasonable. They have some small plates on the menu as well which is always a nice option. We sat outside in the... More
