Great Food but expensive and slower service

The farm to table concept is done extremely well here. The food was delicious. My kids both loved the grilled octopus appetizer (poor octopus) and the beet salad was superb. It took a good chunk of time to get our entrees but they were hot and delicious upon delivery.

We had lunch here on March 26th. The outside seating in the courtyard was very comfortable and nice. Our appetizers (lamb meatballs and beet salad) were very good. The salmon BLT was good. However, the crab sliders were very disappointing. Expected some sort of crab cake, but what was served was a significantly over-salted cold crab salad in a brioche... More

The crab sliders were great, the service terrific. Outside seating was nice. Inside is nothing special, It's a little pricey for lunch but was a special treat.

Just had lunch at Basil with a friend visiting Carmel, and we agreed it was wonderful, delicious and pretty reasonably-priced for Carmel. Excellent patio seating and service too. We shared an appetizer of six delicious lamb meatballs in ample tomato-based sauce ($12 for six meatballs). I loved the linguini in black sea urchin ink sauce with calamari, a very healthy... More

My Sweetie and I ate at Basil on the last night of a long-weekend to the Monterey area. I love farm to table restaurants, and we eat organic at home, so I really wanted to love everything about this place. And, we did love some things. But others need a bit of work. We stopped at the restrooms first to... More

Chef Soerke Peters serves "farm-to-table" dishes that are attractive to the eye and pleasing to the palate. My wife and I were here for her birthday and we had heard great things about Basil but had not yet tried it. We started with the duck paté, which is served with toast points, house-made pickled onions, pears, & cornichons, and a... More

If you want to have an enjoyable lunch and still be able to stroll comfortably through Carmel afterwards, the Basil is for you. The menu offers mainly miditerranean dishes. Reasonably priced (for Carmel) given the quality of the dishes.

We came across this restaurant by chance just after we had arrived in Carmel and were very pleasantly surprised. It has a varied menu and the food was all well presented and cooked. The waiter was attentive and chatty. Only thing that I think could be improved was the price of the wine. For a medium priced restaurant to be... More

Looking for an afternoon spot to grab a snack and a nice bottle of wine...Basil hit the mark! Our server, Catherine, was amazing... made great recommendations and was attentive and excellent. This is a place we will not miss each time we visit Carmel...

The title of this review pretty much sums it up. This was a "WOW" experience from start to finish. The ambience was lovely, albeit, a little bit noisy when we arrived. The inside dining area is small, and has a very bistro feel to it. Our server, Cat, was a delight. She was warm and fun, and spent just the... More
