Wonderful Seasonal Food

Wonderful, seasonal food and great service. Highly recommend the roast chicken which takes 30 minutes, but is worth the wait. The English pea ravioli is also wonderful. Good service and great patio.

We were in Carmel as two couples on a kid-free getaway. Basil was our first restaurant stop of the week, and it was by far the best. Farm to table foods, creative cocktails, excellent service. I should have eaten lunch & dinner here every day, all week. Fresh, perfectly cooked & seasoned food, beautifully served.

We have arrived at 3 pm in Carmel and most of restaurants were closed. Basil was open and they have served a good food. If you are hungry ask for an entree since the dishes are not served with a lot of food.

The chef here is committed to "farm to fork" food, and it shows! We had the carrot soup, which tasted like its ingredients were growing in the ground one hour before. It was delicious and fresh beyond belief. We also had a salad with blue cheese, mandarin oranges and nuts- super fresh, and the gnocchi with olives and root vegetables... More

Unpretentious, not so pricey, yet really fresh and original, this is one of the nicest restaurants I've discovered in the past few years of orbiting the globe. The chef has a real gift for doing something fresh with Italian food--whether it's the sensational green pea ravioli, or the squid ink linguine or his gnocchi. The portions are perfectly sized, the... More

I was dying to eat at Basil after reading reviews on many food forums and it did not disappoint. I went for lunch and sat outside with my dog on the lovely terrace. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. Like many restaurants in Carmel their menus skews Italian, but they had a number of salad, fish and other options. Wanting... More

The food is to die for! Staff is great and the chef, Soerke is friendly and on hand. Lamb meatballs are to die for. Also a great wine list.

The location is not great and for a moment it distracted us from the meal. But fortunately the food was very good. Salmon, meat and black fettuccine frutti di mare, were the three dishes we ordered. All very tasty with a very attentive staff. I highly recommend Basil.

Very nice place with good food and drinks. We had a break in beautiful Carmel while traveling from LA to Frisco and enjoyed our lunch in Basil. The gaspaccho tasted well!

The other two people in my group agreed that the two vegan items I ordered were the best things they tasted. The vegan cauliflower soup (not on the menu) was unique and delicious. The vegan entrée platter was a work of art and equally tasty. It included delicious beet ravioli (the beets are in the pasta, not the filling), a... More
