We knew we were in for a treat when the owner's son volunteered to run to the market a block away to get a bottle of Martinelli's apple cider for me and another patron. According to my wife, the mushroom and truffle soup was excellent. Her superbly Frenchified turkey was one of the best she's ever eaten. My intensely flavored... More

Being a Carmel local, we have tried most of the restaurants. Hands down, this is the best restaurant on the peninsula! Family owned and family operated-- it is everything French and more. The lunches are the best and reasonably priced. The dinners are over the top. When alone, I always sit at the Chef's counter where there are 4 chairs.... More

Repeatedly we were told by locals that this is the best restaurant in town....quite a rave for a town of so many restaurants. We were accommodated nicely with a window table for the 4 of us. So many small restaurants are noisy, but we could easily hear one another. Service was attentive without being smothering. Salads were very fresh and... More

My wife and I are now in Carmel for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Our hotel recommended this place, and it was excellent. We eat out every week in Los Angeles, often at fine well known and reviewed places. The food here was in the equal of any of those places. Very well prepared, and promptly served with layers of delicious... More

My partner and I had the good fortune of being able to dine here twice on a recent visit to Carmel. I had high expectations based on various review sites I'd read critiquing the restaurant...my hopes of having a special experience were more than met. The chef is a master of creating mouth-watering sauces that make food magical...the wine reduction... More

A friend of mine and her partner had recently eaten here and told us it was fabulous, so when we were in Carmel, we decided to go. My friend had the 45 dollar prix fix menu and I ordered a la carte as I have a weakness for maget de canard. The service was seamless and the wine list extraordinary.... More

I took advantage of a Prix Fixe Restaurant Week promotion to try this well-known local restaurant, and was quite disappointed. I found the Bisque de Hommard, a regular menu item, to be lacking in both seasoning and creaminess (the hallmarks of a bisque) and the very generous (two whole legs) Cuisse De Canard Confit special to be drenched in some... During our stay in Carmel we made a dinner reservation at André's Bouchée. We had a nice table in a real french atmosphere. Our waiter did a perfect job and we enjoyed our food = excellent, genuine french cuisine. So far everything was perfect. One blemish: The restaurant has a sommelier, who should learn his job: When we ordered a... More

Get a seat facing the kitchen and watch it work. The food is outstanding. Service was very attentive and helpful in selecting wine from the extensive list. Had the best Pinot I have ever had on recommendation. Worth a splurge.

The food was some of the best I have ever had, especially the cream of mushroom soup! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
