Good French dinner

I loved this place! Ambience is somewhere between casual and formal, and staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I had a really delicious appetizer....large, succulent prawns sautéed in wine and cognac, over a bed of greens, avocado, and pink grapefruit....this was on the daily specials list so not sure how often it is available. My main course was a very... More

I have now dined in this restaurant four times during trips to Carmel and each time the food and service has been excellent. On this occasion we started once again with their mushroom soup which is absolutely outstanding! Then we had beef carpaccio and it was also outstanding. Then for our entree we both had fresh King salmon. We are... More

We loved everything about this restaurant- - except the bartender/sommelier. Why? Because he basically pushed us into wine selections which broke the bank and cost us more than our dinners combined. He was so overbearing and pushy that we finally acquiesced, simply to make him leave. Afterward we couldn't help wonder whether he was deliberately driving up our bill out... More

Some of the meal was decent (bread, crab cake), but overall the meal was disappointing. Unbalanced flavors, overwhelming sometime (way too much garlic and butter). Products themselves weren't outstanding (scallops, duck, vegetables). Decevant! Wines were good but on the expensive side. If you decide to go, go early as service tends to be much much slower as restaurant gets busier.

On a quiet side street with elegant setting, cordial and efficient service and the food is surprisingly good. Daily specials and fresh entries are very tasty and the atmosphere is relaxing and cozy. Worth return visit for sure.

We had dined at this restaurant before and really enjoyed it. Therefore, we made a reservation for dinner. The decor is eclectic. The hostess greeted us and seated us promptly. The server came over anbd took our order. While I was perusing the wine list, the sommelier came over and asked what we were having for dinner. When I told... More

This was a complete French dining experience. We had nice wines from home that we paired with different shared courses. 4 of us dined shared plates and all were excellent. Paired with our Chardonnay we tried fois grois with pear. 4 Rich and so delicious. Moved on to escargot in a yummy garlic parsley sauce . next was our Pinot... More

Service was good but the food was so-so, everything was just a bit too salty or sour. The ambience was nice though. Overall not a bad place to eat at.

Excellent service. Order the foie gras! I was very much looking forward to the salmon wrapped tartar; however, it would have been much better wrapped with lox instead of slightly smoked. Excellent service. Great wine list! The risotto was good, but not memorable.
