Description: Mundaka is a Spanish style tapas restaurant in downtown Carmel, CA. It is the result of great friendships, a love of food and wine and music, and a long term romance with Spain and its culture. Open in March 2009, Mundaka continues to evolve daily with the creations of our chef Brandon Miller, and the musical musings of all our talented contributors. Mundaka aspires to be the hub for all that is tasty, fun, artistic, creative, and cultural in Carmel-by-the-sea. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Tapas were great tasting and unique. The lighting was very low that we can not SEE the great food we were eating.

Fun Saturday night meal with my hubby. Friendly talkative staff make you feel welcome and part of their family. The owner even sat down next to me and swapped paella tips with me after we finished dinner. Don't miss the paella or Bomba!

We go to our favorite places each trip (we visit several times a year) and decided to try something new. What a fun treat and our server was very warm and friendly. I had a nice tempranillo that complemented the meal. We shared the fresh prawns, which were so good. We did a trio of meats plate, I don't remember... More

Had a great night at this restaurant. Every dish we tried was interesting and tasty. We had an awesome Canadian waiter who took great care off us. It was loud and lively which was fine for us but might be challenging for some as tables are tight and at times we were yelling to be heard. I enjoyed the festive... More

We were wine tasting in Carmel and wanted to have a light meal before heading to a play in Monterey. So it was about 6pm when we arrived. We didn't have reservations, and since we said we'd only be there less than an hour, we were seated. I ordered sangria and was disappointed. The only fruit was the orange on... More

It's hard to imagine that Mundaka's menu changes nightly. Last night, we were transported by dish after dish, with a shout out for the "Coles de Bruselas", perfectly tender, slightly crispy little brussel sprouts, with apples, candied walnuts and bacon vinaigrette, and the Esqueixada, an ode to peppers and onions. (Personally, I am not that keen on onions, but this... More

Our first visit was great - friendly staff, delicious tapas and reasonable prices. We particularly loved the peppers stuffed with cod and the oxtail dish. I'd rate that experience 5 stars. We wanted to eat so much of the menu that we tried to go back the night after. There was a private party taking up half of the restaurant... More

Let me start out by saying that I write more positive reviews than negative but I don't know where to start with this odd ball restaurant. We chose it because it was on the Carmel-By-The Sea Culinary tour so thought it would be exceptional. A specialty cocktail is $13.50 and is described as having fig jam and orange juice. Almost... Great tapas, served at your timing and discretion; many traditional and some showing chef creativity. Unlike the tapa tradition, however, there is absolutely NO list of sherries to go with them - no fino, no manzanilla, no amontillado - nothing. When I asked if sherries were available, I got the port/cream sherry list for dessert. So for us, half the... More
