Description: Mundaka is a Spanish style tapas restaurant in downtown Carmel, CA. It is the result of great friendships, a love of food and wine and music, and a long term romance with Spain and its culture. Open in March 2009, Mundaka continues to evolve daily with the creations of our chef Brandon Miller, and the musical musings of all our talented contributors. Mundaka aspires to be the hub for all that is tasty, fun, artistic, creative, and cultural in Carmel-by-the-sea. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Really enjoyed this place. Tapas were excellent. The selection was moderate, but there was enough for me to be satisfied. Prices were a tad high for the tapas, but this was more than made up by the "party wine" (no questions asked...) we ordered at $5 per person. Not a bad Spanish wine actually, and we had a full bottle.... More

This review is long overdue, in short…do yourself a favor and don't leave Carmel without going to Mundaka. We had our rehearsal dinner with a group of 25+ here and the night couldn't have gone any smoother. We made the reservation with very little notice, but they were super responsive and they reserved the front room for our group (supposedly... More

We adored Mundaka. The owner himself helped us out with the menu and even recommended against over-ordering (though we did so a bit on our own!) The food here was surprisingly great, from the bomba, to the superb thinly sliced ham with figs, to the exquisite duck leg confit with bacon leek puree. The chef came by and we had... More

We went here because it was one of the few places open late with folks under the age of 55 (no offense). The manager and server were super friendly, and they had Classic Wiley Coyote cartoons playing on mute on the projector. They also play foreign films The wine was great with both local and Spanish options, but mostly Spanish.... More

We visited twice in early July. Our first visit was a 95/100 experience. Only let down then by a slightly manic waiter, who talked a LOT. Food was absolutely amazing. Vibe lovely. Second time we thought the food was not as good (maybe 80/100), but still really enjoyable. I had a sangria which was a bit average. Worst thing was... More

Mundaka is a go to place for my husband and I and our friends. We love the atmosphere from the movies playing on the wall to the wine porron that is often passed around the table. Only Advice - make a reservation and enjoy a drink before dinner at the bar next door (Barmel).

The food could not be faulted it was delicious. We felt we were forgotten by the waiter as a couple that came in behind us were eating before us. We then felt a little rushed at the end of our meal because it had taken quite a while to take our order. This was a real shame because the food... More

Last night Monterey County Women Of Wine held their monthly dinner at Mundaka. We took over the entire restaurant and had a wonderful time. Chef Brandon Miller gave us a lesson in cooking paella on the patio all the while we were being served amazing Pinxtos by the wonderful staff. The charcuterie was delicious along with a wonderful selection of... More

The two of us here without a reservation on a Thursday evening. The bar/restaurant side was full, but we got to choose from a couple of free tables in the cafe side (a separate room). This was fine, as the bar was really noisy and the full menu was available anyhow. We shared multiple tapas and enjoyed everything, especially dates... More
