Best Tapas on the Peninsula

Chef Brandon knows what he is doing. Unique and traditional tapas. Imports some ingredients directly from Spain. Sometimes he's outside on busy night cooking squid ink paella to keep gusts waiting for a table happy.

Wall wainscoting is decorated with sliced up old doors, cleave. Tapas menu, perfect after a day attending car auctions at the Concours. Excellent Sangrias.

I personally found Carmel to be a very pretentious town so it was refreshing to find a restaurant that didn't have the same attitude. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend the tapas - mushrooms and the anchovies. As a non-alcoholic drink my husband was really pleased with the Mexican lemonade.

The tapas are very good, but we only tried two, so it's hard to say how deep the menu's quality is. What is great is the service. They are quick and friendly, and they seem to love what they do. The outside seating is very nice, and Barmel next door had live music to add to the effect. Definitely worth... More

Carmel has great restaurants this is not one of them. The octopus on starchy potatoes was flavourless and it got worse when the paella came no taste lack of substance and for over $50 dollars an outrage. Wine over priced for what it was. Being the first in for the evening they had no excuses.

We were looking for a restaurant in Carmel, not knowing what to eat and discovered Mundaka hidden in a little corner between two other restaurants. Looked at the menu and did not hesitate. Had great tapas and wine. Service was excellent and fast. And as a bonus, an old Sergio Leone western with Clint Easwood was projected on the wall,... More

We had the fried garbanzos, an octopus item, and zucchini with almonds. All terrific. Nice atmosphere too and reasonably priced.

Excellent tapas! We came across the restaurant as we were staying nearby. This is one of the few restaurants that stays open late. We went in late too. The staff was very friendly. Their Sangria was refreshing. We have tried different tapas, my favorite was duck leg and fish balls. The ambience was very pleasant, very casual with a Spanish... More

We live in Miamj so we have a big selection of Spanish restaurants. I was impressed by the quality and the service. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Carmel.

My experience with tapas places had not been very good over the years but Mundaka exceeded my expectations by far. We were walking on Ocean Ave. and sat down nearby for a quick rest, where I used google maps to see what restaurant options were around and Mundaka came up. The building is pretty old and feels like stepping into... More
