Wow...but

My brother-in-law made reservations for us and we had no idea what to expect. Expect a few things: one of the most elaborate and expensive meals you`ll ever have; amazing service but a tad cold and robotic; and wonderful food. Prepare to spend minimum $200 pp and it is almost worth it; however, I... read more

Amazing service. We had the 10 course tasting menu. Simply delightful! They made our anniversary dinner a memorable experience.

A small, intimate restaurant that takes its food (and wine) very seriously and comes up with the goods. A simply outstanding meal - the tasting menu provides one exquisite, complex composite dish after another. The flavours are amazing from the abalone, tuna, the lamb to the desserts - and post desserts. If anything we regret not having confined ourselves to... More

I'll start by saying that we enjoyed the wine pairing that we ordered with the tasting menu ($145 per person, I believe) and the sommelier was informative and personable. The restaurant is lovely but the atmosphere was more like a library. It seemed like most guests were speaking in whispers if at all. I was disappointed in most of the... More

We were very happy with the restaurant it has only a few tables, we decided for the tasting menu and the wine pairing was great too! Also we added the cheese and my husband tried the wagyu from hokaido, I tought it was too pricey pay extra 150 usd, but when I tried it OMG it is the best meat... More

Visited for a birthday treat and Aubergine did not disappoint. Arrived a little before our reserved time and was slightly disappointed with the outside area for drinks as the bedrooms of L'Auberge are all around it, however the Restaurant is delightful. The menu is just a teaser - I'll say no more as it would no longer be a surprise.... More

If you can afford to splurge more than $300 for a meal, you HAVE TO dine here. It's not the best tasting menu I've ever experienced, but it is the most innovative and versatile when it comes to tastes the ocean and the Central Coast can offer. Definitely do the tasting menu. If they have a special on offer, do... More

We went for Christmas dinner. Because the restaurant is small, and it was six of us, we were assigned the wine cellar. It was fantastic! It was quiet, the food was exquisite and the wine pairings very good. We had a wonderful Mexican waiter Xavier, attending us. He is knowledgeable and has a wonderful sense of humor. I recommend this... More

Excellent meal in romantic, private setting. The restaurant is off one of the side streets on the main Carmel downtown strip. Very easy to get to. Once inside, the host took us to a waiting room with others. He didn't ask if we had a reservation, and sat us down. Clientele is wealthy, older, well dressed crowd. We came on... More

Of all the meals I ate in Carmel - and this was by far, the most expensive - it was also the worst. The chef put far more effort into his sea shell and sea weed presentation than he did into seasoning the food. Not only were the portions miniscule, they were also tasteless. I also found some of the... More
