Very disappointing. The restaurant has only a four or five course menu. Fair enough. But we could have used an idea of how long the pre course amuse bouche were going to go on so that we could have had wine for the interim (we chose the wine pairings which came only when the main courses began). The main course... More

My husband and I seek fine culinary experiences, like some seek fine wine. We have a passion for fine dining. So I will start by saying the seemingly impossible -- This is the dining experience by which all future meals will be measured! We were drawn in by the unconventional "Tasting" menu option listing the fresh ingredients the chef would... More

They think they're classy, but they're not. I had a most unpleasant experience with the hotel. After a mostly pleasant stay - clean room, french charm - I got my bill. When I checked in, I was told that the breakfast in Aubergine was included, but apparently that is only for the code-named "signature breakfast" menu. My bill included a... More

We did the whole experience and I was so impressed. We had amazing food that was prepared with such care. It was a dining adventure and I am so glad we splurged and took it all in!

The food, service and refined elegance of Aubergine are unparalleled in the Monterey Peninsula region. However, for me the endless tiny courses, each one with rarely more than two bites of a beautiful and exotic combination of ingredients, was “over the top.” No problem if this is what you’re looking for, but I’m going to offer more menu details in... Really lovely, intimate, and delicious. Just two choices for dinner, a nine course tasting menu - with the chef determining the courses, or a four course set menu, with several additional "tastes" from the chef. If you are hoping to craft your own dinner, go someplace else. Attentive service. Lovely linnens. The food is tasty and unusual. Our "deconstructed" gazpacho... More

I have stayed at the Auberge a few times and sadly as it is small was unable to do so during Pebble . Aubergine is probably the most serious restaurant in Carmel but very good staff and wine waiter very attentive ,the food is excellent well prepared with a lot of thought to give an unusual dining experience . Expensive... More

Great presentation. Fantastic food, inventively conceived, and brilliantly executed. Very small, intimate setting. Staff were very personable. Not snooty at all. This was not a place where you felt like you had to walk/talk on eggshells from the minute that you walk in the door. Rather, it was more like being a guest in a home where you could relax... More
