We did the whole experience and I was so impressed. We had amazing food that was prepared with such care. It was a dining adventure and I am so glad we splurged and took it all in!

The food, service and refined elegance of Aubergine are unparalleled in the Monterey Peninsula region. However, for me the endless tiny courses, each one with rarely more than two bites of a beautiful and exotic combination of ingredients, was “over the top.” No problem if this is what you’re looking for, but I’m going to offer more menu details in... Really lovely, intimate, and delicious. Just two choices for dinner, a nine course tasting menu - with the chef determining the courses, or a four course set menu, with several additional "tastes" from the chef. If you are hoping to craft your own dinner, go someplace else. Attentive service. Lovely linnens. The food is tasty and unusual. Our "deconstructed" gazpacho... More

I have stayed at the Auberge a few times and sadly as it is small was unable to do so during Pebble . Aubergine is probably the most serious restaurant in Carmel but very good staff and wine waiter very attentive ,the food is excellent well prepared with a lot of thought to give an unusual dining experience . Expensive... More

Great presentation. Fantastic food, inventively conceived, and brilliantly executed. Very small, intimate setting. Staff were very personable. Not snooty at all. This was not a place where you felt like you had to walk/talk on eggshells from the minute that you walk in the door. Rather, it was more like being a guest in a home where you could relax... More

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at this wonderful jewel of a restaurant. We had the privilege of eating here and Addison (San Diego) in the same week. Between the two, Aubergine was our favorite. The staff (with the exception of the <aloof> sommelier) was gracious and warm. The food was so delightful and the flavors just popped in... More

It is hard to understand how Aubergine is rated only 28 in TripAdvisors for restaurants in Carmel. I'm the first to agree that I'm not an export on Carmel but I have eaten in many of the wonderful restaurants and feel that something is not working for the TripAdvisors rating system. In any case my wife and I celebrated our... More

Tiny, but warm and comfortable, this is a pull-out-the-stops kind of restaurant. We dined here on our anniversary and it was really special. The Tasting Menu is worth the adventure if you have the time. In addition to the listed elements, we were sent several more surprises from the kitchen. The Red Abalone and the Cheese course (different than we'd... More
