Excellent food & what a welcome!

I really enjoyed the atmosphere in this restaurant and the food was delicious. It was recommended to us by at host at the Normandy Inn. My boyfriend told them I had just arrived from Ireland and the chef came out, welcomed me and they all sang a song that went something like

I loved everything about this place. The service was warm friendly and sincere, like being with family. The food was really good, a member of the kitchen staff came out and sang a song while the owner played his guitar type instrument and our waiter was on the drums. Super fun.

My husband and I made reservations to eat at Demetra's one night prior to dining. The night started off a bit shaky in that a couple who were obviously on a wait-list was seated before us. However, the wait wasn't terrible so no worries there, plus they seated us next to the window. Our waitress who said she was from... More

We had dinner here a week ago based on reviews and recommendations. It is definitely the happening place in Carmel but it was just ok for us. It is very crowded, lively and loud. Service was confusing with many different people checking in on us. For some reason after we paid the bill, and we weren't in a rush to... More

My husband and I, along with our three boys secured a reservation at this restaurant after playing a round of golf at Pebble Beach. We were seated promptly and greeted warmly by Bashar, the owner. Veronica was our waitress and she did an excellent job. We were enjoying our appetizer platter (excellent hummus and dolmas) and recapping our fantastic golf... More

Sorry:Demetra's is a terrific restaurant, and great staff, but changes needed to keep up #1. Moussaka had little meat. Too much potato. Was there cheese? Music (drums) MUCH too loud. One drum would do it, like in the original place. A bit Softer! Other dinner food for rest of our group was fine. Just Spanakopita apppetizer was very disappointing. Too... More

Good food, terrible service! We were here for family food, we waited 20 minutes for a glass of water..also when we asked for pepper, they brought it too late, when the food was over... The lamb shish Kebab was good but Ravioli was the worst Ravioli in the world! There were no hosts assigned to the tables I believe and... More

A few friends and I were visiting Carmel and saw that this restaurant was ranked #1 on trip advisor for the area. We arrived at the restaurant where we were told it would be a 45 minute wait. We ended up waiting for almost an hour. It seemed like eternity because we were quite hungry after our ride from San... More

The waitress overheard us talking about the appetizer plate that served 4, she immediately said we could get it for 2. Asked if we could get some olives, she brought us a bowl of about 40. When we were leaving host was getting everyone waiting in line a glass of wine. Owner made the rounds to ask how everyone's meal... More

We were a little skeptical as we walked in. The dining room was small, and it took some time before we got our water and order taken. But after that, it was like being over at grandma's house for dinner. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable, the portions were large, and the quality of the food was superb. Nothing was...
