We had just finished the 17 mile drive and were on our way to Moss Landing for a boat ride, which was timed, so we had to get in and out of Dametra. The owner was extremely accommodating and made us feel like family. It's too bad we could not stay!! The warm bread with olive oil was great for... More

There is a reason why this restaurant is rated number 1 in Carmel. The owners and the staff are very friendly and make you feel like part of their family. That enhances your dining experience, but of course the food must be great, which it is. Try the lamb kebabs or the gyros plate. Popular place and recently expanded so... More

My boyfriend and I stopped in the town of Carmel for lunch on our way to Point Lobos Park. The food and service here was wonderful. There was a small wait for a table but we were able to walk around a bit and were called on my cell once our table was ready. The servers were very attentive and... More

The food here is great. I grew up with neighbors from the Middle East, and Dametra does an excellent job with these dishes. Great food, great service and loads of fun. This is a noisy, boisterous place, with a singing Chef, laughter and good vibes.

From the first day it opened, Dametra Café has been a big hit with the locals. The warm greeting, smiles, hugs and welcome start the evening off on just the right foot. The service is terrific, the food is interesting, varied and very tasty, and the chef makes an appearance to sing. People join in and some get up and... More

This reviewer tends to stay away from number one rated restaurants. They tend to be too noisy or too busy, a consequence of the high ranking. The tradeoff in excellent food versus other problems may or may not be worth it. At times, lower ranked restaurants may seem adequate for securing an excellent meal. When dining at a number one... This is a happy restaurant.....the owners and all of the patrons know that each and every mealtime will be FUN! The menu is quite large and many of the offerings are Mediterranean or Middle Eastern....the portions are more than adequate and the food is good.....it isn't gourmet, but good, filling food.....the entertainment can be overwhelming.....very loud at times, but fun... I stopped for a quick lunch at this very busy little place and had a fantastic cioppino with Prosecco. The chef came out and sang half way through and it was absolutely adorable. Service was great and bill came with a complimentary baklava. Delicious.
