Dametra is easy to spot as you walk down Ocean Ave, it's the place with a permanent knot of people standing outside waiting for a last minute cancellation that might release an elusive table....definitely worth a visit we thought. Unable to get a table on Saturday, we settled for Sunday instead...it was still packed. We were greeted by an enthusiastic... More

We saw all the great reviews and thought we we would check it out for lunch and we were not disappointed. We both ordered the gyros sandwich which was probably the best gyros sandwich I have ever had. The meat was tasty and sliced just right and the pita stayed warm and soft right up to the last bite. The... More

I can forgive bad service and a clumsy atmosphere for good food, but unfortunately our entire experience was awful. I ordered the cioppino. - which last time I checked is seafood soup. This was red pasta sauce with clams mussels shrimp and salmon. Flavor was ok if it were a pasta dish and I thought ok I'll just enjoy what... More

We had lunch here with our three boys (14, 13, 9) and everyone loved it. Convinced the boys to try Gyros platter and they were very happy. Everything was delicious. Service was a bit neglectful, but not in a way that ruined the experience at all. Just could have been better. We were told there was a 45 min wait,... More

We loved this energetic, friendly and fun restaurant with its excellent food. The charming oud-playing Owner sees to it that everyone at his party is enjoying themselves. The kebabs were wonderful and the typical specialties--spanikopita, humus, babaganoush, and baklava--were wonderful. No wonder it's so hard to get a table here!

This was our third visit since we really enjoyed it the first two. The host seemed a bit overwhelmed but needed to handle things better. We were told to come back in 45 minutes . It's easy to kill time... so no problem. We came back at the right time, but he seated someone who just walked in because they... More

The reviews were so positive, so we stopped for lunch today. We had the appetizers spanakopita, tzatziki with warm pita, and fried calamari (steak strips, not greasy!). In addition, we ordered the gyros sandwich and Greek salad. The portions were huge (in my opinion). The gyros meat was tasty & delicate. I would have preferred the sandwich to have more... More

The reason why this restaurant is so popular is that the staff offer a happy, friendly and casual atmosphere combined with good food at a reasonable price. The dishes offered have a definite mediterranian flavor. The musical interlludes are fun. There are not a large number of tables so making a reservation is recommended. However, we found that iwithout one... More

I feel a bit silly putting up yet another "Excellent" review and I certainly won't be able to do justice with this review, but Demetra's is simply FABULOUS! From the homemade cuisine to the festive atmosphere, everything is top-notched. The best quality by far is that no one that walks through the door, is ever a stranger. The entire staff... More

We had just finished the 17 mile drive and were on our way to Moss Landing for a boat ride, which was timed, so we had to get in and out of Dametra. The owner was extremely accommodating and made us feel like family. It's too bad we could not stay!! The warm bread with olive oil was great for... More
