Four years since we were here last, it's now bigger and just as good.

When we lived in California (2008-2011) this was our favourite restaurant so when we returned to California for a business trip cum family holiday we booked in to 'Dametra Café' to sample it's delights again. Wonderful meal. Get there early as it is very popular. We ended up sitting at the bar which was fine.

Great mix of tasty Mediterranean food and a good wine list. The ambience is outstanding. The place magically erupts into song (every night I've been there) and the staff fun and friendly and make you feel like family. A must visit in Carmel.

We visited beautiful Carmel in early February and while the warm weather was a nice break from our New England winter this year, the visit was enhanced by the wonderful lunch we had at the Dametra Cafe' right on Ocean Ave. I had the Moussaka and it was the best I ever had, Greek restaurant or otherwise, and my wife... A trip to Carmel is never complete without a meal (or two) to Dametra. Food is very good, price/value is very good, and the experience is off the charts great. Plan ahead since tables fill quickly.

We visited this restaurant on a recommendation from our hotel. It had a good atmosphere, enhanced by the friendly staff and the live music they performed. The food however was a let down. Bland calamari to start, advertised with a spicy sauce which wasn't. My wife's prawns were huge and delicious though. Our mains, lamb shish and Istanbul kebab were... More

We ate the seafood pasta and had a delicious meal. Bashar, the young syrian owner played Oud and sung giving our dinner a warm and happy ambiance. 30 min waiting time on a winter tuesday night...

This is a happy restaurant experience. Effusive owners always remember you even when they don't. Great Greeks. Dining is authentic Greek and consistently terrific.

Our overall experience was: great food (you have to like mediterranean flavors), the service is excellent, the owners are there and they are very attentive, suddenly the staff started to play and sing so it was a very cheerful lunch, we had a little of everything, because we wanted to try a lot of things, their gyro and kebabs are... We ate lunch twice there during a recent visit to Carmel. The food was outstanding, service very good and especially fun when the, staff breaks into song for no particular reason. Many others, appeared to have found it as lunchtime can get quite busy.
