Dametra Cafe holds the #1 spot in Carmel dining for so many reasons. Let's start with the food - it's to die for! It has a menu that definitely stands out from it's many competitors in the Carmel/Monterey area. It's easy to dismiss this small restaurant from the curb - but don't be deceived! True, seating can be tight on... More

We were excited to go to this restaurant, because we knew it had a great atmosphere and was usually crowded. We left our name and phone number, and we were called fifteen minutes later with the news that our table was ready. We rushed back, walking several blocks -- but no table was ready, and we were told to go... More

Would recommend this restaurant for the food. We visited on a busy Friday night. We had reservations and had to wait. It is a crowded, little place and very loud. Service was spotty and the floor show was not to my taste, but very energetic... felt like a very touristy place. Giving it 4 stars, as the food is good... More

Loved the food. Been here before and had to visit them again. Great food and fantastic atmosphere. This place is always crowded, whether you go for lunch or dinner. Highly recommend this place.

Nice decor, food was excellent. We just walked in off the street and were seated. Busy but not totally packed for lunch like some reviews of course this was in January. But such a cool place with very nice servers and always asking how everything was. A must go for this place

Nice selection of Mediterranean food from falafels, pizza, salads, kebabs, fish entrees, etc. While it looks a little fancy and maybe too adult.....it definitely had many families with very young children who seemed to eating away. The tablecloths are really beautiful and of high quality. The house bread is a sourdough type and excellent....we had to really pace ourselves! We... More

Tried this restaurant because of its' reviews on Trip Advisor. We had a party of 8 and they do take reservations. The place is not huge, very quaint. While waiting for our dinner, another table had a birthday they were celebrating. A man with a strange little guitar, I think he told us it's from Syria, an oud. He played... More

Had a fantastic time at Dametra Cafe the other night with a group of six of us. They could not have been more attentive and caring. Loved the decor - a mix of Greek, Turkish and Mediterranean pizzaz. The ceiling was hand painted and there were colorful lamps and draperies all over which made a warm glow. The food was... More

Since this is number 1 on Tripadvisor in Carmel we came for lunch. It is very popular and we had a thirty minute wait. Why it is so popular is a mystery to me. I have been in the middle east and this food is a very poor imitation of the real thing. It is a cheesy sort of place... More

This is the top restaurant in Carmel, and for the life of us, my husband and I could not figure out why. OK food, OK service, but nothing that blew us away.
