Summary: Prices were very reasonable, staff very attentive, food excellent with great and inexpensive wine choices. Many food choices available to suite many tastes. The Experience: Stopped in for a late lunch and this place turned out to be a nice find. Located on Ocean Ave (the strip), this somewhat small but quaint place and friendly staff made us feel... This restaurant so deserves it's No 1 rating in Carmel. We hadn't booked but the owner promised us a table asap. We had a seat at the bar and were given an appetiser while we waited. We actually ate at the bar as he apologised for the wait. The food was great - a real taste of the Eastern Mediterranean.The... More

So good! Missed the singing etc - We couldn't get in bc we were just passing through (no reservations) but they have a few small lovely parks nearby. We were here five yrs ago, passing thru, and Dametra Cafe had just opened. It was great! So, didn't we just RUN here when passing thru again! Staff so kind, the order... More

Had dinner here for the first time with another couple. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the entertainment by the staff was great fun!

You may not want to pick this for an intimate, quiet first date, but if you want absolutely fabulous food in a fun atmosphere, you must go to Dametra Cafe. The other must- a reservation! It is always busy. We are locals and we often see other locals there, along with the many tourists. My family of 6 (all adults)... More

Visited because it is top of the list on TA. Clearly lots of other people had too 'cos it was heaving. The enthusiasm with which the clientele responded to the "entertainment" from the staff suggested that they had never been to the Eastern Mediterranean. What it lacked in quality it compensated for by volume (and boy were they loud). The... More

I have tried to get a reservation for dinner at Dametra Cafe twice based on the good reviews on Trip Advisor. Unfortunately, both times they have been completely booked. First piece of advice, I asked the owner (and one of the waiters) and they suggested that I make a reservation at least (if not more) 2 weeks in advance if... More

The calamari was terrific. Rarely does one get it fresh and lightly battered. I recommend it. We just finished a song from the kitchen. I smiled lots. It was fun. The wine prices are fair. The lasagne was ok. I can't recommend it. I liked the lamb. Great split. The owners kindness makes up for whatever kitchen defaults. I heartily... More

Delicious food, luscious room, sumptuous, heady experience, absolute fun! Would strongly recommend reservations but did watched the staff bend over backwards to accommodate a small family for dinner on a holiday weekend.

Got there around 2:30 on a weekday afternoon and it was quite crowded and we elected to wait. Food was excellent. The people who helped us were friendly. It was after 5 by the time service finished. Some times we want a dining experience to just sit and enjoy, but we thought this was a bit long. The people who... More
