Steak was fantastic

Four of us came here for a birthday dinner and all four of us loved our meal. The restaurant is beautiful inside as well. Fish, steak, ribs, and salads were ordered by each of us and we all loved the food. Service was excellent as well.

Enjoyed this modern, nicely decorated place although it was a several mile drive from old, downtown Carlsbad (kind of an odd location next to the desalination plant). We chose it based on Tripadvisor ratings which were pretty accurate. Expect a wide ranging menu with lots of dinner options (even sandwiches & main course salads). The seafood cannelloni was excellent and... More

We went out for an impromptu family outing on Friday evening with our daughter. The place was packed and we had to wait ~20 minutes without reservation. Fortunately, it worth the wait. For appetizer we got ale steamed clam and mussels. It came with beer braised pork belly too! we love it. The sauce was yummy. I literally used clam... More

First of all, I'm a foodie (cue the "Hello my name is ____ and I'm a Foodie). I saw some of the reviews and I agree - Happy Hour prices aren't THAT discounted, but the food is pretty incredible. Hear me out on that last part..."the food is pretty INCREDIBLE." And heck, that alone makes for a very HAPPY hour.... More

My girlfriend and I really enjoy the happy hour here. Excellent and unique food options, creative drinks, and attentive service. We particularly were impressed by the ham and bean soup... big chunks of smoked ham, some of which had broken down into the soup... it was delicious. They also had excellent pizza, with their own wood fired pizza oven. The... More

Great service, beautiful decor, nice presentation and delicious food. The prices are a value when you consider what you are getting, but not cheap on a linear scale of price. We often like to go and just sit in the bar. The light fare and appetizers are great and give lots of interesting choices to share. The cocktails are made... More

This place is very nice. The ambiance is relaxed yet classy without being pretentious. The food is tasty, the servers are perky, and the wine selection is ample (they'll let you taste some if you request it). Their menu is a bit hectic, though. You might not find something that fully appeals to you, it's all scattered, but still all... More

I was disappointed- Park Hyatt Aviara sent us here and I thought it was just OK. The menu is large with little focus. While they proudly touted local asparagus in the special, there were only two tiny bits in the whole dish. My short ribs were tasty and tender but the presentation heavy. The pricing is modest, the wine list... More

Bistro West has good ambiance and the beer and drink choices are fine. The Hapoy Hour prices are nothing specials as far as the drinks. The food is $5 cheaper but not too many choices. I didn't find the pizza to be extraordinary; however, we are from Texas and I didn't find anywhere we ate on our spring break to... More
