The waiter staff is extremely helpful when you are a "picky" sea food consumer. They will tell you what is fresh, what is not, what is good, what is not. The staff is genuinely concerned about your dining enjoyment.

Stopped here on a whim while driving to La Jolla and were so glad we did. The fish is fresh with a large variety, the service is excellent and the Boston Clam Chowder is the best!!! In fact, it was so good we stopped on our way home! Will definitely be back!!

We expected more from this place. We agree with another reviewer about the absence of creativity, and therefore, on the pricey side. In addition, the odor from what we imagined was the detergent used to clean the cloth napkins was so overpowering throughout the meal and rather unpleasant. Owners: change your detergent. The Boston Clam Chowder we felt was way... More

Our table enjoyed the sable, monk fish, salmon and smoked albacore. All agreed it was some of the best fish ever. When ordering the salmon, be sure to ask for it "medium" of it comes out a tad dry -- but still full of flavor. The sable and monk fish were incredible. Cooked to perfection. The sides are ample, homey... More

Have the Trombone. If you like Halibut this is a less expensive alternate with the same texture and taste

We stopped by for a light lunch while enjoying a walk through Carlsbad Village and Fish House Vera Cruz did not disappoint. As another reviewer pointed out recently, they have the BEST Oysters Rockefeller... cheesy and crisp on top and creamy and decadent below. I couldn't buy and shuck my own for the price. The server provided a basket of... More

We choose Vera Cruz for dinner last night, and we're very happy that we did so. The fresh catch of Sea of Cortez seafood was prepared perfectly, and was served by a very attentive staff. We really enjoyed our meals. The fish is grilled over mesquite and is prepared to bring out the flavor of each selection.

These Honduran Tails are big and decadent and a perfect meal with a Scallop Rumaki appetizer to start. Don't forget with a full bar you can start with one of Johns amazing Manhattans and finish with a nice glass of wine. Delish!!!

The service was fast and friendly. We had the oysters Rockefeller and they were some of the best we ever had. Also the grilled prawns were delicious. After these two appetizers we decided to share the sable fish, which was great. There is a limited selection of side dishes, which is disappointing. The broccoli was perfectly cooked but we did... Service was good. Halibut was overcooked and dry. Coleslaw or should I say shredded cabbage was tasteless and had no seasoning at all. My husband had the monkfish which had more flavor and was not overcooked. Prices are high for no creativity in selections. We had tried before and were not impressed and after this time it will be our... More
