great fish, OK sides

For three years, we've come here on the first day of our beach vacation. Never had bad fish here -- always fresh and cooked perfectly. The bread is delicious too. Our favorite appi is the rumaki; again, scallops are done but not rubbery. The sides are OK -- huge portions but the veggies are... read more

All fish is grilled, no deep frying. There is also a fish market at the front with lots of fish to choose from. Portions are good and meal is complete with vegetable sides.

I have reviewed this restaurant before and gave it good marks, however, and based on our recent visit, I feel compelled to review it again for what it is now. We arrived around one in the afternoon and there were only three tables occupied. That should have been our first signal that things aren't what they used to be. The... More

Virtually every single dish we ordered was over cooked. We started with the calamari strips which were rubbery. If we had only known that was just the prelude. I ordered the wahoo and my wife splurged and ordered the giant Honduras Lobster tail. The wahoo was very dry (I know it's a dry fish) and disappointing. The lobster tail was... More

Having dined at their location in San Marcos and liked it, we decided to invite our nephew to join us for lunch here, since he recently moved to Carlsbad. The hostess was pleasant and efficient, however the waitress was missing in action for 15 minutes. We ordered Cherrystone clams as an appetizer and after waiting for 25 minutes I asked... More

A local colleague took me here for dinner. Very large menu with fresh seafood options. I had the shrimp and scallop kabob based on her recommendation and was not disappointed. The side portions are enormous and main dish substantial as well. The spring salad was ok, didn't love the house dressing but the potatoes were excellent. Service a little slow... More

Calamari strips appetizer are a meal themselves. Huge cuts of fresh, flavorful strips. I had the Fishes of the Days kabob with a mound of cheese mashed potatoes and salad. I just wish the fishes were identified so I'd know what to order in the future. Attentive, sincere service.

Had dinner here recently and was amazed at how fresh and delicious our meal was. They have an extensive list of fish to choose from. I had monkfish, which did indeed taste like lobster and oysters as an appetizer. I wished I had tried this restaurant sooner on my trip so I would have enough time to go back for... More

We were staying at the Hilton resort in Carlsbad and were looking for a good seafood place for dinner. We were told about this place by the front desk people at our resort. They displayed all of their fresh seafood in a case as you walk in the door, so you could see what looked good. They mesquite grill everything,... More
