Karl Strauss's place is a fun, happening spot in Carlsbad. It's noisy, but that's part of the Happy Hour fun scene, being in a happy group enjoying yourselves. They have many beers on tap and a nice dining menu. Lots of locals frequent the place.

Amazing staff, delicious food, prices in line with quality and quantity of meals. Great selection of food items, beer and wind.

As hotel guests annually we had never tried this restaurant yet, always too busy eating elsewhere w local family but this year we decided to give it a try. The service was great. Our waitress was very nice and accomodating. My only issue was money related. The prices were very high. $14 Mac and cheese plates etc. I had to... More

It was our first time to Karl Strauss and I would rate it good. The service was great to start! My wife had the pecan crusted salmon and it was not very good, the bad part of this review...my daughter and I had the Shrimp & Sausage Creole and it was superb! I would highly recommend it especially if you... More

After a day at LEGOLAND we needed and kid free evening. Got a sitter and went to the closest place to the hotel. The drinks, food and service were very good. I don't think I'd go out of my way to come here, but if you're staying close by it's far better than the other restaurants we visited near Palomar... More

It was okay, not nearly as nice as the downtown location. The food is good, but expensive. The beers are good as well. Nothing really outstanding about the place however.

Great beer and unique food pairings, casual. People bring their kids or meet here after work. Very chill but can be loud, not a great place for a first date.

Karl Strauss is a big, cosy restaurant situated on the premises of the Grand Palisades Hotel & Resort where we stayed for 7 days in one of the ocean view condos. Because of our late arrival close to midnight at the hotel due to flight delays and the concierge desk could not find our booking to reserved condo, and because of that... More

My husband and I looked online for a happy hour place (most importantly, appetizers on sale and second, good drink prices). We did not see this place online, but luckily we noticed it in the hotel lobby. The beers and wines were $4. I'm usually a wine drinker, but decided on beer at this place because it was so delicious.... More

Standard breakfast buffet. A little pricey. Usual fruits, cereals, eggs, sausages, waffles. Omelet bar was nice addition. Was told that the bacon tasted weird.
