We were staying a the hotel next door so we had both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. The service both times was great as was the food and beers. Breakfast is a great deal at $12.95 for adults and $5.95 for kids for the buffet, including drinks. We had dinner at the restaurant during happy hour, when beers were... More

Food for the four of us included a chicken dish, fish, burger and shrimp, and all were excellent. They had ample portions and were wonderfully presented. Burger had shoestring fries which are a favorite and hard to find in our area. My shrimp with avocado pieces over habanero jack grits was a July special and outstanding. Workers were all personable... More

In Carlsbad for a mini-vacation with some family at Grand Pacific Palisades, our home resort. Room wasn't ready so we wandered over to Karl Strauss for some lunch. Five us ordered various appetizers and they were all delicious and huge! Buffalo wings were actually chicken tenders in a spicy sauce with ranch dressing. The black garlic fondue was full of... More

Have been here several times and have enjoyed it every time. Food is good and a LOT. Prices are average. Little noisy when busy.

Typical breakfast buffet, nothing special. The restaurant is very nice and it look like lunch dinner might be good but breakfast was just ok.....

The beer selection is great. They continue to bring around samples of their various beers as you eat, informing you which beer is paired best with different meals. Even after tasting the multiple types, I still go back to the Red Trolley. Continues to be my favorite.

There were 6 adults and 3 kids in our party. We enjoyed the different beers and the yuppy food. The beet bruschetta was interesting, and the boneless wings were outstanding. The macaroni and cheese was homemade and not Kraft macaroni and cheese like a lot of other restaurants. The salads were. Rey fresh and good.

My husband ate the shrimp po boy which he had gotten before. He ate it but he said it tasted different. He got extremely sick and vomited and shook and had severe stomach ache. Way to go Karl Strauss

Went to Strauss after our first round of golf. Great place to hang out, watch sports, relax with friends and have some good food. I had a shrimp po boy. Quite good. They put so much shrimp in this thing that the bread couldn't handle it all. Service was great. Will definitely return if in the area.

My family and I arrived here for their Mother's Day Brunch. Food was excellent and well worth the price. Our waiter was a bit on the slower slide but made up for it with his kind, friendly, and caring personality. I would highly recommend this place to others.
