One extra star for the copious amounts of sauce we got for our to-go order (ketchup, tartar, salad dressing). That's important! Great location, solid food, big portions, friendly service. The fried fish was the crispiest fried fish ever, and the po' boy sandwich was very large and filling. Good clam chowder too! The dinner salad could have had been a... More

Stopped off here after a long walk. First experience of fish tacos for me and I was won over. This is a definite no frills restaurant, but i think that adds to the charm. Very reasonable pricing makes worth a shot.

I ordered spicy fish tacos. They weren't spicy and not even decent fish tacos. The single taco with bland fish was around $13. It came with equally bland cole slaw. Everywhere we went in San Diego, we ordered fish. This by far was the worst. The appeal of the place it that it is on the beach. If that's what... More

Harbor Fish came very highly recommended by locals, so we went there enthusiastically. It did not disappoint. It's what we New Englanders would have called a fish shack, located near a pretty stretch of beach. We started with chowder, thick and full of clams. It had a peppery flavor that my wife found not to her liking, but that I... More

Since we are from Arizona and don't get fresh fish very often, I was excited when I saw the fish of the day was halibut - my absolute favorite! I asked our waitress what fish is used for the fish and chips and she said "Pollock". I am not a fan of Pollock so I asked that that halibut be... More

We have dined here many times over the years. However, yesterday's visit was quite disappointing. We had the fish & chips and the fish & clams plates and a shrimp cocktail (the shrimp was room temperature!) The fish is cute so thin now, you're getting about a third of the fish they once served. It was so thin that it... More

Wonderful fresh fish and shrimp and fried zucchini. It is casual almost outside dining or take out. We ate there often in the 2 weeks we were in Carlsbad.

Whenever I am in the San Diego area, I include a stop at the Harbor Fish Cafe. The ocean-side beach location beckons me on a balmy today to partake in a casual lunch while I enjoy the weather and people watching. The fish & chips is delicious and the servings are generous. The young, energetic waitstaff are efficient and pleasant.

Boyfriend ordered the fish, I ordered the fried clams. Perhaps he just got a small piece of fish, but it was disappointing. The batter is very good and they have great fries but the amount of actual fish left something to be desired. Friendly service and decent location. A little on the pricey side but all in all, a good... More
