Disappointed

After researching TA we settled on Tip Top Meats for a casual supper. Food was very ok, service was poor and very curt and unfriendly. Huge portions. Is unique food and atmosphere.

If you are into a culinary experience or just into European markets, this is the place to go in SD. Food is delicious with big portions.

In short, visiting Tip Top Meats is an experience all of its own. If the prices don't give you pause, this is the place to get the very best choice and prime cuts of your favorite steaks, chops, and roasts. Various sausages are made daily and on the spot. The small-ish market boasts a substantial collection of European, Bavarian, Austrian,... More

Hand down this was one of the best steak dinners ever. The New York steak was cooked just the way everyone ordered it.You bite into it and it melts in mouth, Big steak, potato,,roll, and a beer $14.95.It was so good we went back for breakfast(and bought a lot at the meat market to take home).

Pros..very reasonable. Nice portion size. Cold beer., good red cabbage. And gravy.Good sausage platter called Octoberfest. Staff friendly. Cons...no ambiance. This is a German meat and grocery with a deli, take out and tables to eat. You order and they call when it is ready. The Sauerbraten meat was like cardboard, only half was edible and only half the potatoes... More

We enjoyed our German experience here. The Deli had plenty to choose from with unusual items. The store section offered hard to find German items and I even bought Marmite for my New Zealand friend, who could only find Vegemite when visiting New Zealand. Our meal was Roladen (sp?) which my German friend in Honolulu said we had to try....very... More

My friend and I each enjoyed a huge breakfast of eggs, bacon, potatoes and coffee. All for under $14.00! It was tasty and filling, and a great value to be found in Carlsbad, CA. There was quite the line to wait to place your order. so my friend held our place while I did some grocery shopping, buying European chocolates,... More

This place has one of the best prime ribs I've ever had, but not only is it tasty but it was huge and really inexpensive. I would laso suggest the cordon bleu which one of my friends had and really liked. The only problem with this place is that the wait can be a little lengthy depending on the time... More

If you want A six pack of colors light and some Farmer John Hot Dogs, then get out of this place and make your way to Wal-Mart. You won't find that here. This is a restaurant/butcher/meat heaven/grocery all-in-one place. You'd think you'd landed in Berlin. They have all kinds of German specialties, from candies and breads to licorice and beer....
