The first restaurant was opened in 1983 in San Diego by Ralph Rubio and his father, Ray, who started the fish taco phenomenon that spread across the nation. Today, Rubio’s menu has grown from The Original Fish Taco® to include additional chef-crafted seafood recipes that feature shrimp, wild salmon and ono. In addition to sustainable seafood, Rubio’s offers chargrilled chicken and steak, fresh made guacamole and salsas and sauces that are prepared daily.

My associate grew up in this area of California and suggested we give this place a go. Not bad, but I felt the execution of the fish taco was not spot on. I had the Mahi Mahi grilled tacos. One had too much sauce in comparison with the other. Not consistent. And I felt the sides of nachos and re-fried... More

Go to Rubio's. They have a good salsa bar and lots of options. Good options for kids, too. And, they also have alcohol. You can enjoy your fish taco and a Corona.

Reliable, yummy tacos. The original deep fried fish tacos were the best. The Jalapeño citrus sauce was great. I wish they sold it.

This is the best place to eat fish taco, or other Mexican food. Every time I go to California, it has to be at least once that I stop by at a Rubio's for either lunch or dinner. They have the best fish taco, and fish dishes. The service is fast, the places are always clean, and the stuff is... More

I took my husband to Rubio's for his first visit. The fish tacos are some of the best around. Great varieties on the salsa bar. Very good!

The cleanliness and staff make or break a place for me. Rubios is clean, you can see behind the counter is even clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The menu is fresh and a healthy substitute from the norm. It's hard deciding what to get because it all sounds and looks so good. We ordered, got our drinks... More

Can't help it, I love the original fish taco. I don't care that it's battered and deep fried. If you want to be a stickler for the healthier option you can get the fish taco grilled. But still, not a bad choice for a fast food place. They've got great options for the salsas too!

My family went to Legoland over the long Labor Day weekend and on Sunday night after the park closed, we went out to find a bite to eat before heading back to the hotel. It seems that all of the area fast food locations close at 8:00pm with the exception of a sandwich chain and this Rubios. We stopped by... More
