A local friend suggested we meet him at PAON for drinks the weekend of 1/17. Although he had raved about the atmosphere, food and outstanding drinks we weren't ready for the over the top experience we had. Annie was special behind the bar, her hospitality, smile and attitude was well appreciated. She made several amazing drinks as well. We had... More

My wife and I were in from Toronto Canada and were told that this was a very special place. It was much more than that. Not only was every course a delicacy (beet salad, gnocchi and lamb) it was only surpassed by the Owner who I will never forget and the wait staff (James and support crew). This is as... More

For an appetizer I had the onion soup (not French onion) that was okay - next time I would get the French onion) and as a main the Seared Rare Hawaiian Yellowfin Tuna 34, incredible - tender, very tasty. My husband got the Angus Rib Eye Steak 29. He said it was one of the best steaks he has ever... More

I went alone to that place a saturday night without reservation and surprisingly I got a place. The atmosphere was very good, and the service very attentive. I enjoyed excellent scallops and good white wine. Very enjoyable but a bit expensive even taking it is in the very centre of the city.

This restaurant had excellent food. The special French onion soup was a creamy texture. I would have licked the bowl if it was halfway polite. I was not going to have an , because it would have been too much food for me to eat. My husband had the soup. The waiter offered to split the order for us. That... More

We celebrated a friends birthday, good food and good time was had by all. The service was flawless and very attentive. Afterwards we went to the Wine Bar, had a wonderful conversation with the owner. The bar tenders were very knowledgeable about their wines and I had to purchase a very tasty bottle of Merlot to take home. Would definitely... More

The food here is French-influenced and SO delicious! I've been here for lunch on 3 occasions, but can't get beyond 2 dishes--the duck confit, which comes with the most delectable beans EVER, and the deeply-flavored braised short ribs that simply melt in your mouth--no stringiness at all. Next time, I swear, I'll branch out and try the flat iron pork... More

In the land of fish tacos and smoothies, Paon stands out as the classiest place in Carlsbad for those interested in great food and a stylish atmosphere. It's not the least expensive spot in town, but the quality of the food (especially the meat dishes) are well worth it. I've had duck and venison the last two times at Paon... More

Visited when on holiday to see my cousin and his family who live in Carlsbad. I took my wife for dinner on a Saturday night and the place was buzzing. We were offered great food at fair prices and the table on the terrace was great on a warm evening. Wine selection was also fantastic, although a little pricey for... More
