My wife and I recently stayed in Carlsbad and this restaurant was a couple of blocks from our hotel. When we travel we always look for local independent restaurants rather than chains we could eat at anywhere. The Village Kitchen was a perfect choice. Looks like it was probably built in the 50's or 60's although it was recently renovated.... More

We stopped in for one evening for dinner while on vacation in Carlsbad. It looked homey from the outside and and the name sounded inviting. It reminded me of the old places we used to go when I was a kid. The food was great and the service very good. We enjoyed visiting with the server and we asked her... More

Love their biscuits and gravy. The eggs benny are lovely and pancakes are huge and delicious. Prices are good as well.

This is vintage coffee shop with a local, homey vibe and one of the best breakfasts you will find anywhere. Coffee could be improved, but that is not what is memorable about this place.

The California omlete was wonderful! My husband enjoyed the biscuits & gravy. Service was lousy, but the food was good.

Meeting a local friend I told her " we're in your hands" when choosing a place to catch up. It's an odd location- by a freeway & a service station. There was plenty of parking on a weekday lunch. Inside has a homely feel, with counter seating & booths. The pie cabinet looked amazing!! The omelette was really tasty but... More

I love this place! Great specials during the week make it economical too. My kids went to school in Carlsbad, and the Village Inn was host to many a first/ last day of school celebratory breakfast. I, personally, am crazy for the fresh blueberry muffins, but when friends come to town, they head over for the cinnamon rolls and the... More

After reading other positive review we decided to try this restaurant. The service was terrible. We waited 15 minutes to order the first time then the waitress was VERY annoyed when we had questions about the menu. She made us wait another 20 minute before bringing out soups. Some of the food was ok but most was gross!

This is a blast from the past, just like Grandma's house. Good food, great prices, BEST cinnamon rolls ever and you can order pie to take home. What's not to love?

This restaurant was very close to our hotel so we decided to stop in after the beach. The menu is extensive, lots to choose from between typical diner fare and home cookin' favorites. Did not have to wait long to be seated. Comfortable atmosphere. Food was really good and portions were large. Would eat here again if in the area.
