We stopped in to this lovely cafe on Coast Hwy in Carlsbad Ca. Almost across from the beach. Its outside patio was so inviting. When we stopped by for a sandwich which was great!! There was live music. The Harmony Grove Band was playing on the patio. LOVED LOVED LOVED it I will stop there everytime I'm in town just... More

This cafe sits across from a chain coffee house, but cafe Elisa has the charm and ambiance as well as nice coffees and breakfast treats. The outside patio is adorned by two table high fire pits that warm you up just enough to dampen the enjoyable chill in the air. Cafe au lait...try the coast breakfast...

I would have given 5 stars, BUT...why do you have that filthy air conditioner sitting next to your customers....was that black stuff mold? That said, the food is really good and the coconut custard French toast is to die for.....really, it is so sweet with the coconut on top...an unsweetened coconut might be better or just have on the side.... Okay, so it is a hole in the wall, but they had very good coffee, great breakfast food and a fun setting in a place that has predominantly outdoor dining only. The two fire pits add charm and you are conveniently located near the beach. You can tell this is a local hangout with women and their dogs abounding around... More

Ok you have got to stand in line to order; gives you a chance for a short chat with all the locals who like you have come for their morning java hit and some grub ( popular term in Carlsbad). Huddled around the fire pits are the real regulars. The omelets were authentic, the coffee robust and freshly served in... More

We gave this little outdoor, village place only one star - for location in beautiful Carlsbad by the sea! When we ordered from the items on the blackboard, the first 2 we wanted were "not available" because the microwave was broken (a quiche, and a BLT!!!). We ordered our 3rd option = a ratatouille and feta omelette, which was TERRIBLE... More

We were staying at the Carlsbad Inn for a marriage retreat and we wanted an omelette. Place was great. The locals were friendly. I am not a bakery person but I was tempted!

We just had some coffee drinks and party to go, but the chocolate croissant was fresh out of the oven and so soft and amazingly delicious!

I've actually been coming to Cafe Elysa for years and watched it go from a menu of simple but excellent pastries, coffee and tea to a full range breakfast and lunch menu. I normally settle on a well made dry cappuccino or green tea and one of their incredible French pastries made by their sister bakery just up the road.... More
