Really good place for chicken and other Mexican food. Wonderful chicken soup. A bit crowdednat lunch and dinner but worth waiting for. Take out too. One block south of Carlsbad Village Drive on Harding. You won't find it unless you already know it is there.

We had lunch at Pollos Maria and it was very good. We had the three-tacos special, a chicken burrito and a chicken salad. It's a small neighborhood place with an outside patio and a few tables inside. It's also one of those places where you place your order and then pick it up from the counter when your number is... After a day at the beach we stopped by Pollos Maria to grab some food to take home. We got a whole roasted chicken, corn tortillas, and some guacamole, together with the salsas and toppings from the salsa bar we made some excellent tacos. The roasted chicken is simple and very good and they chop it up for you. Even... More

Perfectly roasted. Reasonable pricing. Specials for lunch. Hot and ready to go! Small dining room. Extras on a salad bar: fresh hot sauces (medium to HOT) pico de gallo, shredded cilantro (very fresh) with little containers for to-go. Fresh flour tortillas- which I like- given choice of corn or flour- made in house! Quick service. Clean restaurant. Tiny tables. Outside... More

I've been here 4 times in the past 2 months-can't beat the food and the prices!! Small inside dining but you can dine outside and they will happily turn on the lava pits for you to keep you warm in the non-summer months. My nephew says the carne asada burrito is the best around--and he is quite an expert! Take... More

If you like chicken that's not fancy, that's not covered in a lot of STUFF. Maria's is the place for you. They have a nice fixings bar so you can dress it up the way you want to. I would caution you though that the chickens are quite small so order up!

My band rehearses in town so we often eat here. Because it is away from the downtown area it is more popular with locals than tourists. This means you never wait for a table or deal with noisy tourists or their kids. I usually get the chicken tacos or a chicken burrito. On my most recent visit I tried the... More

Most visitors to Carlsbad never even know this place exists because it is not on one of the main streets with all the shops and other restaurants. It is primarily locals who come here. We have lived here 3 years and never knew about it until we saw a coupon and wondered why we never saw it. But if you... More

When I’m in a pinch, I’ll pick up dinner for the family to go. However, I usually bring the family along and eat at the restaurant. As the restaurant name suggests, chicken is what they do best. Skip the other meats if you eat here. And it is true that their chicken is usually on the dry side but it... More

We stopped at this place on the way back from San Diego. I read the reviews but had to see for myself. Needless to say I was not disappointed. The ambiance was nice. Even though it was overcast and California cold :) we sat outside next to a functional fire pit. The food was really good. We had fish tacos,... More
