As a transplanted Jersey guy with 21 years in Southern California, I've tried plenty of places claiming to have authentic east coast style Italian food. Some close , some not even. I was in SD on business when I saw this place featured on the food channel and thought I'd give it a try on my way home. I walked... More

A friend introduced me to Spiritos last week. We ate some really good Back East Italian food. Tried the spaghetti and meatballs. I thougbt it was very good. Ordered a salad too and that was good. Not much atmosphere but good Italian food. Reminds me of why I like spagbetti and meatballs so much.

The DDD endorsement has attracted a LOT of traffic to Spiritos. Everything was good - very, very casual. Soft drinks are canned and wine is served from the counter. We had soup, salad, and spaghetti w/meatball. Meatball was great, spaghetti was good too. Salad was great and the soup was tasty, but a bit sparse (more broth to it). Tough... More

Being a huge fan of triple D and also having been to some of the recommended places to eat on the show I would have to say my wife and I were bummed. Now don't get me wrong, the service was great and really friendly, but lets get to why were at a restaurant, to eat of course. We tried... More

Yes, Spiritos was featured on a TV show. Yes, it was overrated. The food was OK but definitely not worth the 43 minute wait for the food with terrible service. Additionally, three other tables in the restaurant were also experiencing extremely slow waits for their food. I had the spaghetti with meatball and the meatball was the best part of... More

Dropped in while staying Carlsbad to pick up some food to eat in our room. Since we're only in town for a couple of days, we decided to try a pasta and a pizza. We ordered the ravioli with meat gravy, Trinity pizza, house salad with gorgonzola and the cannoli. First off, I knew I was going to love the... More

Recently we saw Spiritos featured on triple D. Since we had a trip planned to Carlsbad, we had to try it. There were four of us who all ordered a different dish. We also ordered a large salad to share and a bottle of chianti. Everything was great and we all had left-overs for the next day's lunch. It is... More

Eight of us went to Spiritos based on the whole triple D thing. I was apprehensive but hey...lets see how it goes. Well if you like good Italian, this place is where to go! We reserved a table and they had it ready. They explained how their system worked (you order at the counter but after that, they take good... More

Being from the east coast, I like my pizza a certain way (and the thought of pineapple on it still gives me shivers, even if I give in occasionally due to hunger.) Spiritos, with its roots in New Jersey, fits the bill quite nicely. It also has what I call the "Cheers" factor; when I order or pick up it's... More

Everywhere we travel around the United States, we like to try places featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. This was a great stop with excellent food. We tried two of the specials they had and they made a small cheese pizza for the kids. The food was great and the portions were big. We went early in the evening and... More
