Good, very casual Italian

We enjoyed an early dinner on a Tuesday evening. There were only a couple other tables in the restaurant when we arrived around 3:30 pm, but there were lots of folks coming in for take out. The menu is not huge, but has all the basics to satisfy your Italian craving. We greatly enjoyed two... read more

Spiritos is kind of hidden in the north end of the Vons shopping center. It is mostly takeout, but they have tables if you want to eat in. The pizzas and pasta dinners are good, but not great. They illegally charge a fee if you use a credit card.

We ordered a large pepperoni pizza which was outstanding. The meatball sandwich which had mouth watering meatballs. And then the sausage sandwich which was outstanding. Too much food for 5 people with plenty of left overs :)

My search for old-school Italian food is over! Spirito's is by far the best in Carlsbad, if not SD County.Recently had Eggplant Parm, Ravioli with meat sauce and Roman meatballs (with raisins and pine nuts). Tremendous! If you're from NY or NJ, this place is for you...Planning to try Sicilian pizza next time!

As a transplanted Jersey guy with 21 years in Southern California, I've tried plenty of places claiming to have authentic east coast style Italian food. Some close , some not even. I was in SD on business when I saw this place featured on the food channel and thought I'd give it a try on my way home. I walked... More

A friend introduced me to Spiritos last week. We ate some really good Back East Italian food. Tried the spaghetti and meatballs. I thougbt it was very good. Ordered a salad too and that was good. Not much atmosphere but good Italian food. Reminds me of why I like spagbetti and meatballs so much.

The DDD endorsement has attracted a LOT of traffic to Spiritos. Everything was good - very, very casual. Soft drinks are canned and wine is served from the counter. We had soup, salad, and spaghetti w/meatball. Meatball was great, spaghetti was good too. Salad was great and the soup was tasty, but a bit sparse (more broth to it). Tough... More

Being a huge fan of triple D and also having been to some of the recommended places to eat on the show I would have to say my wife and I were bummed. Now don't get me wrong, the service was great and really friendly, but lets get to why were at a restaurant, to eat of course. We tried... More

Yes, Spiritos was featured on a TV show. Yes, it was overrated. The food was OK but definitely not worth the 43 minute wait for the food with terrible service. Additionally, three other tables in the restaurant were also experiencing extremely slow waits for their food. I had the spaghetti with meatball and the meatball was the best part of... More

Dropped in while staying Carlsbad to pick up some food to eat in our room. Since we're only in town for a couple of days, we decided to try a pasta and a pizza. We ordered the ravioli with meat gravy, Trinity pizza, house salad with gorgonzola and the cannoli. First off, I knew I was going to love the... More
