Who Knew...?!

This is an excellent restaurant in Gonzalas. We happened apon it while driving through the area and on a whim decided to give it a try. Both the service and the food were great. We only with that it were not so far from our home in Los Angeles because it would definately be our new #1.!!

My family was in the Capitola (Santa Cruz) area and we went to Caruso's in Capitola Village for dinner, they accommodated the 7 of us in their small space by moving a couple of tables around in their small and intimate restaurant. The smells from the kitchen were intoxicating as we came in the door. The food on the tables... More

My wife and I decided to return to Capitola for our 8th anniversary on November 17, 2015. We had eaten at Caruso's several years before and really enjoyed it. They don't take reservations, so we called and Augusto, the owner said if we came early, there would be no problem being served. Indeed, at 5;30pm, we had the cozy Italian... More

Didn't have a reservation but were seated straight away. Service was knowledgeable and helpful Nice wine choices but what appeared to be limited stock. Brave attempt at a pollo saltimboca but the Veal scallopini was substituted by lamb which really didn't work. Worth another visit though.

Arrived promptly at 5:00. They only take reservations for parties of 6 or more and there are only 7 tables and bar seating in the restaurant. Only open 5 to 9 pm Tuesday to Sunday. My hubby and I split a mista salad and it was yummy. I ordered the lasagna bolognese. The noodles were homemade, thin and tender. The... More

Dined here with 2 work colleagues and we were very happy to find Caruso's. We sat at the bar and watched the chef in action and seeing all the food being prepared made it even harder to choose. I opted for a Prosciutto Pizza which was delicious good base and quality prosciutto. The restaurant is quite small so be prepared... More

My wife and I tried this small restaurant and were very pleased. The waiter recommended that we split a salad and it was sufficient for two. She had the spaghetti pollo and I tried the spaghetti Mori 4. It was excellent. Every piece of seafood was firm and the garlic, lemon and olive oil sauce was extremely flavorful. We'd definitely... OUTSTANDING! The food rates at the top of any we have had, and we have traveled the world, so this is saying a lot. I had the spaghetti polo and almost licked the plate. It was exquisite. My husband had the gnocchi and it was the best he had tasted. It literally melted in his mouth. We had a great... More

My husband is Italian and it takes a pretty fantastic meal to impress this Italian---and Caruso's delivered. He ordered the lasagna based on the recommendation of our server (outstanding service BTW). The serving is really generous and the cook makes his own noodles and sauce--and it's so tender you don't need a knife---your fork glides right thru. It' the best... More

Second time here. The food was excellent! Only complaint was they were out of the only chardonnay on the wine list (we had seafood pasta) and the server told us they had another bottle for "a little bit more". We orderred it and it was good but the "Little bit" was $15 more. A little shocking when the bill came.
