This historic charmer is located riverside and takes full advantage of its steep hillside site. There are many different rooms, which give a more personal feel to this restaurant which seats about 250. The architecture is brilliant--California redwood with Craftsman touches, lots of lights twinkling in the trees, a marvelous rainforest-y garden which can be appreciated from most rooms. The... We've been to Shadowbrook many times and had nice meals and decent service, but I have just have to make sure everyone knows how terrible they are when making reservations, how rudely I was treated by the staff when making reservations. First, you can only make reservations 28 day in advance, at least that's what they tell you. When I... More

Decided to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary here with our kids. There was a group of 7 of us. We had a reservation for 6:30, we were sat early. The location of our table was nice. Took a few minutes to get a menu but I think they try to time it with other people who sat down around... More

wonderful place! a must when in capitola. walk from the parking lots down to the restaurant or take the gondola down. greeted with smiles and seated fairly quickly. food is very good and presentation interesting. many rooms including outdoor area. the only minus we had is that the wait people are a bit hovery.

I've been going to Shadowbrook for over 25 years. It's my first choice of a place to take out-of-state visitors. The tram ride to the entrance is always fun. I've consistently been pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. The desserts are especially delightful. Winemaker Wednesdays in the Rock Room are fun.

You know you have had a favorite restaurant in the past and wonder if it as good as it used to be. The Shadowbrook is one of those iconic restaurants. Having been there years ago and being mesmorized by the trolley and lights throughout the restaurant, can it still have that magical appeal. The answer is absolutely. The food is... More

This is my favorite restaurant when in the Santa Cruz area! We have dined here twice over the past couple of months while working in Santa Cruz. One night I enjoyed the Lobster Tail with a perfectly made Cosmo. Very good quality food and the ambiance is romantic. I love riding the trolley car down to the restaurant. Our second... More

We had a wonderful experience here and I was very well looked after on my birthday. We were asked on the way to the table if we were celebrating anything and from that moment every member of staff wished me a happy birthday. That is great customer service. Arriving into the restaurant via the little hill side tram is unique... More

This beautiful restaurant is located inside the hills of Capitola, creating a magical experience for diners that is matched by incredible food and an extensive wine list. From the moment you exit your car and take the cable car down the hill to the restaurant, you feel like you're in a fantasy land far from the crazy world we live... More
