My wife and I had great hopes of getting a really good fish-and-chips lunch at Moonstone. Instead, we got the worst fish-and-chips we've ever had...anywhere. You can't judge a restaurant on one meal, but no professional establishment will slip this badly even on one lunch item, particularly when it's one of their specialties. The fish was dry and tasted like... more

My girlfriend and I stopped here for lunch for some drinks, appetizers, and lunch. We chose to sit on the patio 2 steps away from the beach with views of not only the ocean, surfers and trees but also of otters dolphins even even the occasional whale. It was breezy but this patio had below floor heating as well as... more

We ate here in June, based on reviews from AAA. We were lucky enough to be there at exactly the right time. We were eating dinner on the outdoor deck facing the Pacific Ocean, and were fortunate enough to see 2 whales! They were late in migrating north (we'd heard about it on the news) and they were playing around... more

Dinner Sunday, May 31, 2009. Talk about being treated like royalty! The staff at Moonstone (on the Pacific in Cambria at the north end of Moonstone Beach) will do just about anything to make your meal the best you've had. Management must treat them well or they wouldn't be in such a consistently pleasant and helpful mood! The views of... more

We recently stayed on Moonstone Beach for 2 nights to celebrate my birthday. We loved this restaurant so much, we went to eat there again on our 2nd night. It was a 2 minute walk from our hotel, so very convenient as well. My lobster was steamed to perfection, not under cooked, not over cooked. We chose to eat indoors,... more

My fiancé and I had a chance to eat here for dinner yesterday. We chose to sit in the patio so we could watch the ocean and the sunset. The crab cakes were a bit pricey ($14.95) for three pieces but it was good as well as the sautéed mushrooms. Their serving for the main course is big and is... more

Went for the vaunted clam chowder and a salad. Very plain restaraunt across from the beach with nice view. Patio dining was available but too cold, everyone inside. Clam chowder was not special at all, tiny pieces of clam, more bits of bacon than clam. Shrimp salad had no more than 5 small (one size larger than bay) shrimp per... more

Stayed next door at the Cambria Landing Inn and decided to head over here for dinner. Service was great, and the food was also really good. It was a bit expensive but well worth it as the views out to sea were great, and perfect for having a nice romantic dinner at sunset. more

We have been taking trips to the Cambria/Paso Robles area for years. During that time we never ate at the Moonstone Bar & Grill. That is of course until 3 years ago when we were driving home on a Sunday but we wanted breakfast first. We have learned from experience to find a local person and ask their suggestions for... more
